On her personal page, Lan Phuong posted a rather long article about her unpleasant experience during her second pregnancy at the age of 40. The actress said that she became pregnant in the early weeks while filming. Due to morning sickness, she had to try very hard to complete the final scenes while in an unstable health condition.
"During her second pregnancy, Phuong experienced very severe morning sickness, much worse than when she was pregnant with Lina. When she first found out she was pregnant, Phuong didn't tell the crew; she just tried to endure the morning sickness. Her body was very tired and aching, and the busy work schedule meant her body was constantly straining to cope, causing her neck and shoulder pain to worsen each day."
Because she was so tired, Phuong spoke very little to the crew during that time. After filming a scene, she would sit still, almost not moving, or just lie quietly on a chair to regain her strength for the next scene. On some hot summer days, they had to close the doors to the room to film, with over 40 people crammed inside. The smell of food, heat, unclean cleaning, and sweat mixed together, and for a woman experiencing pregnancy, it was truly a nightmare.
Then Phuong started feeling nauseous and vomiting. At 6 weeks, Phuong told the director and production team so that everyone could understand and sympathize more with her withdrawn, tired, and unusual state," she shared.
Lan Phuong is four months pregnant.
Even after filming for the movie ended, the actress's morning sickness remained severe:
"The film ends when Phuong is two months pregnant. She no longer has to strain herself every day, so all the fatigue, nausea, and pain come flooding back. Every day is the same; the moment she opens her eyes, she feels exhausted and overwhelmed by nausea."
Sitting up makes her nauseous and dizzy, so Phuong spends the whole day lying flat on the bed or sofa. Occasionally, when filming shows, she struggles to sit upright for the entire show. The smell of coffee, the smell of clothes... all make Phuong nauseous."
Lan Phuong said that she didn't even dare to interact or get close to her husband and daughter because she was experiencing such severe morning sickness that she was afraid of the smell of other people's clothes: "The most difficult thing is that I can't hug Lina and David like normal because every time I get close, the smell of their clothes immediately makes me nauseous."
The actress said she suffered from severe morning sickness.
Although her husband and daughter were extremely understanding, sympathetic, and tried everything to make her feel better, her poor health, inability to do anything, and inability to be close to her husband and daughter made her even more upset:
"Those days were very stressful. Phuong knew she couldn't manage the restaurant, couldn't hug her husband and children, she just lay around from morning till night, unable to think or do anything useful, so she was very gloomy and a little depressed. Every day she woke up thinking: How many more days like this are ahead?" the actress confided.
Lan Phuong was so stressed out by morning sickness that she couldn't be intimate with her husband and child.
However, Lan Phuong still encouraged pregnant women to maintain a positive attitude and accept the current difficulties: "If you're too tired, you should accept your health condition so you don't put pressure on yourself by not being able to work as usual or go out and enjoy life as you wish. Rest as much as possible. Sooner or later, this morning sickness will gradually disappear."
Lan Phuong's post received many empathetic comments from other mothers. They expressed their sympathy and wished the actress a speedy recovery from morning sickness.
Currently, Lan Phuong is four months pregnant. Temporarily, she has put most of her work related to the entertainment industry on hold to focus on her health and prepare for childbirth.
