Spreading the beauty of Thai Binh land and people through the art of photography

The Thai Binh Photo Contest was recently held to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the province's founding (March 21, 1890 - March 21, 2025). Hundreds of photos from all over the country were sent online to participate, showing that the beauty of Thai Binh's land and people is spreading day by day. Among the authors, there are many people of a rare age, and there are also people full of youthful enthusiasm. What they have in common is their love and desire to contribute a small part to introducing the rice countryside that is changing every day but is still imbued with traditional cultural beauty.

The photo exhibition attracted the attention of art lovers.

The journey of the trips

As one of the authors honored to have his work selected for exhibition at the Thai Binh Beautiful Photos Contest, Mr. Nguyen Trong Cung (Quynh Phu) said that his photo, titled "In the Dawn Light," captures the moment when fishermen in Thai Thuy district begin their busy day's work amidst the poetic scenery of the land and sky. Not only was his photo selected for the exhibition, but Mr. Cung is also a skilled photographer with many special photo collections of destinations in his hometown of Thai Binh on his personal social media page.

Regarding the origins of his passion, Cung shared: "My friends in other provinces only know Thai Binh as the land of rice. Therefore, after a period of passion and learning, since 2022, I have begun to focus seriously on trips to villages and communes in the province, capturing beautiful, peaceful, and familiar moments in everyday life. The joy is that many photos, after being posted, have been liked and shared, and the locations have subsequently attracted the attention of many young people and photographers. From this, I have even more of a desire to spread positive energy and love for my homeland and country through my photographic works, from the simplest things, to everyone."

Like the young photographer Nguyen Trong Cung, Nguyen Thanh Son, now 75 years old, shares a passion for travel, but for him, those trips are back to his hometown of Thai Binh. Living and working in the tourism sector in Hai Phong, Mr. Son is always proud of Thai Binh, a land rich in cultural traditions, with its meticulously maintained festivals in villages and communes, and especially its increasingly vibrant rural landscape.

Regarding his photograph "Bright Coastal Region," which won first prize in the Thai Binh Beautiful Photo Contest, Mr. Son shared: "This is a photo I took with a drone, looking down from the Tra Ly Bridge at the Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant area. Every time I return to my hometown, I admire this scene and feel moved by the strong transformation of this rice-growing region. I believe that in today's 4.0 era, meticulously crafted photographic works by photographers will be the most authentic way to promote destinations, thereby attracting tourists from all over to experience and capture memorable moments for themselves."

Promoting the beauty of the land and people of Thai Binh.

What's special about the Thai Binh photo contest is that among the winning entries, many are from outside the province. Passionate about the land and people of Thai Binh, they have become tourism "ambassadors," introducing impressive destinations on their travel experiences.

Photographer Vu Van Hiep ( from Hai Duong ), one of the third-prize winners in the competition, said: "I submitted three works depicting very simple beauties: a flock of storks on the beach, fishermen after a successful fishing trip, and a woman returning home after a busy day with a cart full of fish. I've been to the Thuy Xuan beach area (Thai Thuy) many times, but instead of choosing the endless seascape at sunrise like many photographers have chosen, I captured the poetic moment of the place at sunset. The message I want to convey to viewers is that this place is worth experiencing at any time of year, and everyone can choose their own unique colors for their creations."

The work "Intense".

For photographer Trinh Lap (Thai Binh city), folk festivals throughout the province are always fertile ground for cultivating emotions. Having won third prize in the competition, he hopes his work, "Fierce Determination," will contribute to spreading the spirit of martial arts and passion for sports among the people of Thai Binh, especially women. The winning photograph captures the moment of a female wrestling pair vying for every point in the wrestling arena during the Het Temple festival in Thai Thuong commune (Thai Thuy district) at the beginning of the new year.

Photographer Trinh Lap shared: "Not only are there competitions within the province, but works created at traditional festivals are also submitted by Thai Binh photographers to competitions and exhibitions in many countries and regions around the world, and every year hundreds of works are honored. We believe that our exhibited works will reach friends both domestically and internationally, serving as a bridge to promote tourism and showcase a peaceful land that evokes profound emotions."

In a "flat" online world, digital content in general, and beautiful and impressive photographs in particular, are tourism ambassadors that bring images of our homeland to friends around the world. By developing their talent and enthusiastic creativity, photographers are contributing daily to the development of tourism – the smokeless industry of Thai Binh – in this new era.
