On July 26th, Mr. Nguyen Van L. (47 years old, residing in Gia Rai town, Bac Lieu province) stated that he had submitted a complaint to the authorities reporting signs of someone scamming him out of money by promising him overseas employment.
Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Mr. L. said that he and Ms. V.T.D. (49 years old, residing in Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province) have known each other for many years.
In February of this year, Mr. L. met Ms. D. at a cafe in Gia Rai town. Ms. D. said that her daughter, N., was married and living in South Korea. N.'s brother-in-law, a construction contractor, was looking for workers to go to South Korea for high wages.

Mr. Nguyen Van L. retrieved some information related to Ms. D. when he contacted a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper (Photo: Huynh Hai).
"Ms. D. said that anyone who wanted to go to Korea had to give her 150 million VND per person, and someone would take care of the procedures and paperwork for working abroad. Because I trusted Ms. D., I agreed and found five other acquaintances. These people gave me money, and I transferred about 720 million VND to Ms. D.," Mr. L. informed.
"I personally gave Ms. D. cash three times, totaling 680 million VND, and once transferred 40 million VND. Because I trusted her, I didn't make any paperwork for the money transfer," Mr. L. said.
Adding further details about the signs of being scammed, according to Mr. L., after receiving the money, Ms. D. told everyone to get ready, that they would go to Ho Chi Minh City on April 16th to sign documents and fly on June 18th.

"However, on April 15th, Ms. D. called me and said that the construction project in South Korea had an accident and couldn't proceed. I asked Ms. D. what she planned to do, and she asked for my bank account number so she could transfer the money back."
"I gave her my account number and waited a week, but Ms. D. didn't transfer the money. I tried calling her but couldn't reach her. To this day, I haven't heard anything from Ms. D.," Mr. L. said.
On July 26, a leader of the Criminal Police Department of Bac Lieu Provincial Police confirmed to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper that the investigative police agency had received the aforementioned crime complaint from Mr. L. and is currently verifying and clarifying the matter.
