This afternoon, January 9th, at Da Nang Naval Port, a delegation from the 3rd Naval Region, along with representatives from 35 local agencies, organizations, clubs, businesses, and individuals, and 50 reporters from 35 central, military, and local media outlets, departed to visit, present gifts, and extend New Year greetings to officers, soldiers, and people of Con Co Island District (Quang Tri Province) and Ly Son Island District (Quang Ngai Province) on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025 (Year of the Snake). Earlier that morning, the 3rd Naval Region Command held a ceremony to offer incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Hall within the 3rd Naval Region; and held a farewell meeting for the reporters before they departed to cover the events on the islands. Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Tien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the 3rd Naval Region, and representatives from provinces and cities including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Quang Nam , Da Nang, Hue, and Quang Tri; as well as various organizations, units, and businesses attended. Also attending from Quang Tri province was the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Ho Dai Nam.

According to the itinerary, the delegation carried out patrol and management duties in the sea area from Da Nang to Con Co Island; Con Co Island to Ly Son Island; and Ly Son Island to Da Nang. They also visited and extended New Year greetings to the officers and soldiers at Radar Station 540 on Con Co Island and Radar Station 550 on Ly Son Island, belonging to Regiment 351/Region 3 of the Navy; and visited, presented gifts, and extended New Year greetings to the Party Committee, government, people, and armed forces units on Con Co and Ly Son islands.
On Con Co and Ly Son islands, the delegation attended the flag-raising ceremony and offered incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs and the Hoang Sa naval squadron. In addition, officers and soldiers of the 3rd Naval Region implemented the program "The Vietnamese Navy as a support for fishermen venturing out to sea" with activities including gift giving: life jackets, national flags, mooring ropes, etc., and organizing legal awareness and education for fishermen.

On this occasion, the 3rd Naval Region prepared and delivered many Tet gifts from the Ministry of National Defense , the Navy, the Regional Command, and agencies and units under the Region to officers and soldiers, and forces performing duties on the two frontline islands and at sea, totaling more than 20 gift packages.
Simultaneously, they received, transported, and coordinated the distribution of gifts from localities, agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals to officers and soldiers of Region 3 and the military and civilians on Con Co and Ly Son islands. These gifts not only held material significance but also demonstrated care, encouragement, and support for the officers, soldiers, and people on these strategically important islands of the country.
Earlier, on the afternoon of January 8th, all goods, food, necessities, and Tet gifts from the mainland were transported onto ships with the aim of helping the officers, soldiers, and people of Con Co and Ly Son islands have a fulfilling and warm Tet holiday.

This is a major activity with profound political and social significance, arousing the feelings, awareness, and responsibility of Party committees, governments, and people in localities; agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals in safeguarding the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands; and effectively implementing the country's socio-economic development and national defense and security strategies.
Affirming the integrity of national sovereignty at sea and promoting the socialization and mobilization of all resources for the sea and islands, encouraging localities nationwide to focus on the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
This trip further affirms the close and strong bond of solidarity between the Party committees, government, and people of the localities; agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals inside and outside the military; central and local media agencies with the Navy, military, and people on Con Co and Ly Son islands.
At the meeting held that morning, representatives from the 3rd Naval Region briefed on the sea route and some regulations to ensure security and safety for New Year's greetings and work activities at units under the 3rd Naval Region stationed on Con Co and Ly Son islands.
At the same time, we hope that journalists, with their dedication and sense of responsibility, will promptly and vividly reflect the lives of the military and civilians on the two islands. This will help spread the message of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands, as well as the determined efforts of the Navy to fulfill its mission in the new situation.
The voyage is scheduled to take place from January 9th to January 12th. Colonel Pham Dinh Thanh, Deputy Political Commissar of the 3rd Naval Region, will lead the delegation. Ship 390 of the 3rd Naval Region will transport the delegation to the planned locations.

Naval Region 3 was established on October 26, 1975, as a combat unit directly under the Navy Command. Its mission is to continuously improve training, combat readiness, and combat success; to manage and firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea area along the entire length of seven coastal provinces and cities in Central Vietnam, from Deo Ngang Pass (Quang Binh) to Cu Lao Xanh (Binh Dinh); the coastal islands of North Central Vietnam and the Hoang Sa archipelago. At the same time, it is ready to mobilize to carry out unexpected missions; maintain a peaceful and stable environment at sea, and preserve friendship with countries in the region.

Throughout nearly 50 years of building, fighting, and maturing, generations of officers and soldiers in the 3rd Naval Region have built a glorious tradition: "Actively proactive, united and cooperative, mastering the sea, determined to fight and determined to win."
In summarizing the "Determined to Win" emulation movement in 2024, the 3rd Naval Region was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Ministry of National Defense, 2 units were awarded the Emulation Flag by the Naval Command, 42 units were awarded the title of "Determined to Win Unit", and 2 collectives and 5 individuals were awarded the title of the most outstanding exemplary units in the Navy.
