The two sides completed negotiations very late on the night of August 31 and Swedish striker Alexander Isak will arrive in Merseyside on the morning of September 1 for a medical before signing a six-year contract with Liverpool.

According to British press, the total value of the deal is up to 130 million pounds, approved by Newcastle's Saudi Arabian owners.

Despite efforts to keep Isak, even sending a delegation to persuade him at his home, Newcastle were eventually forced to let him go. Isak also confirmed his desire to find a new destination and say goodbye to St. James' Park.

Before agreeing to sell Isak, Newcastle completed a 'replacement' deal by successfully recruiting striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for £69 million - a new club record, surpassing Isak's contract three years ago (£63 million).

The 23-year-old striker grew up at Werder Bremen, made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 17, and last season scored 17 goals in 33 matches for Stuttgart.

Alexander Isak will be the Premier League's "blockbuster" contract

Woltemade has not yet registered to play against Leeds United but is expected to soon become a mainstay in the attack. Coach Eddie Howe affirmed that the new German player has good technique, great potential and is suitable for Newcastle's attacking philosophy. Woltemade has been nicknamed "Messi 2.0m" by the German press.

Meanwhile, Liverpool see Alexander Isak as an important piece to strengthen their attack. This deal makes him one of the most expensive contracts in Premier League history.

The reigning Premier League champions are also in the final stages of negotiations to sign Marc Guehi on transfer deadline day. Crystal Palace have asked for £40 million (plus add-ons) for the English centre-back while Liverpool have already made a bid of £35 million.

Marc Guehi wants to leave Palace in the final year of his contract

Manager Oliver Glasner insisted that Crystal Palace must retain their captain despite Guehi having only one year left on his contract: "Marc is a professional player, a good centre-back, Palace must keep him in the team, partly because he loves Crystal Palace so much."

Liverpool will be formidable with hundreds of millions of pounds poured into the transfer market.

This summer, Liverpool have been given the green light by their American owners to strengthen their squad. A budget of up to 290 million pounds has been spent to bring in eight new stars, including Jeremie Frimpong, Ármin Pécsi, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni.

If Isak and Guehi both arrive at Anfield on the final day of the transfer window, the total cost "The Kop" will spend will far exceed the record 400 million pounds.
