Over the past years, Hung Hau Heart Fund in particular and the Liaison Committee of Cluster III in general have been receiving the attention, direction and close guidance of the Dong Thap Province Association in volunteer activities, serving the community and society.
In 2025, continuing to receive the direction and support of the Dong Thap Provincial Association, Hung Hau Heart Fund in collaboration with Military Hospital 175, Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, Dong Thap Provincial Department of Health and Hong Ngu Regional General Hospital, with the accompaniment of students of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Van Hien University, organized the program "Cataract surgery, with the theme "Pink Lotus Light" for the first time in 2025". The program took place on August 1 and 2, 2025 at Hong Ngu Regional General Hospital, Dong Thap province.

The program aims to provide community health care in a practical and humane way, through completely free eye examination, consultation and surgery (cataract).
Beneficiaries include policy families, relatives of cadres, soldiers, workers and people in difficult circumstances in Dong Thap province.
The program will conduct eye examinations and screenings for more than 150 people. After a thorough screening process, 50 eligible cases will be assigned to cataract surgery in the first batch.

According to the Organizing Committee, this is the first activity in a series of community programs, carried out on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
With the spirit of "When drinking water, remember its source", the program is a way to show gratitude to those who have contributed and contribute to spreading the spirit of humanity in the community.
Representative of Hung Hau Heart Fund, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thien - Honorary Director of Hung Hau Heart Fund shared: Not stopping at a professional activity to bring vision, the program also has the meaning of connecting social forces, from military doctors to local medical staff. Students of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Van Hien University do not directly participate in surgery but are responsible for many essential tasks: From reception, information collection, instructions on pre-operative examination procedures, dispensing medicine... No blouse, no surgical lights, but those silent jobs are indispensable links to help the whole program operate smoothly, successfully and more souls are refreshed.

“A bright pair of eyes is the beginning of a new life. They can work, do new jobs, or simply see the faces of their loved ones clearly. When the light returns, they gradually regain their initiative, joy of life and connection with the community. Following the success of this program, we will continue to maintain and expand the scope of the program to help more disadvantaged people in Dong Thap province in particular and the Vietnamese people in general. We hope to continue to receive the support of benefactors.”

The name “Pink Lotus Light” is the message that the Organizing Committee wants to send to the resilient children of Dong Thap who overcome difficulties and rise up amidst difficult living conditions. Just like the lotus that grows from the mud but still maintains its purity, many patients here have been and are rising up, bringing fragrance to life.
And this first program will be the first step in the long journey that Hung Hau Heart Fund is aiming for. That is to bring light, sharing and medical care opportunities closer to people in remote areas across the country.
