AP, citing two local officials on December 10, reported that the military aircraft experienced a technical problem while attempting to land at the Osman Digna air base in the coastal city of Port Sudan on December 9.
The accident resulted in the deaths of the entire crew. However, authorities have not released the exact number of people on board. It is known that among the deceased was pilot Omran Mirghani.
The Sudanese military has not commented on the accident.

Earlier, in February 2025, at least 46 people, including women and children, were killed when a military aircraft crashed into a densely populated area in Omdurman, Sudan.
The accident occurred amid ongoing fighting between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Sudanese Army lost el-Fasher, its last stronghold in the vast Darfur region, in October, and earlier this week was forced to withdraw from the country's largest oil processing facility in the Kordofan region.
The war in Sudan began in April 2023 due to a power struggle between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The conflict is believed to have killed more than 40,000 people and created a severe humanitarian crisis.
