At the grand opening of the first Mazda Flagship showroom in Vietnam, distributor THACO showcased the new generation CX-5 to domestic consumers. This was one of four models that THACO brought to the event, alongside the CX-60, CX-90, and MX-5. According to THACO's announcement, the new generation Mazda CX-5 will be introduced and sold in the Vietnamese market from November 2026. Meanwhile, other information about this C-segment SUV for the Vietnamese market has yet to be released. However, the vehicle is expected to continue to be assembled in Vietnam.
As previously reported, the new 2026 Mazda CX-5 SUV has dimensions of 4,690 x 1,860 x 1,695 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. Compared to the previous generation, the car is 115 mm longer, 15 mm wider, and 15 mm taller, while the wheelbase has increased by 75 mm. Not only the size but also the design and features of this C-segment SUV have been upgraded. Although it adopts Mazda's new "Wearable Gear" design philosophy, the CX-5 still retains its familiar appearance. Mazda has added several new exterior details to its best-selling model, including a heptagonal grille with a black frame connecting to the headlights, tiered LED daytime running lights, more angular wheel arches, a straighter roofline, 19-inch alloy wheels, L-shaped taillights, and dual exhaust pipes. Inside the new Mazda CX-5 is a premium-feeling interior. It features a 12.9-inch or 15.6-inch touchscreen display mounted prominently on the dashboard. Many vehicle functions, including the climate control system, are integrated into the screen to reduce the number of physical buttons.
Behind the steering wheel, engraved with the word "Mazda" instead of the traditional logo, is a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. Other notable features include leather or suede seats, Qi wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a new electronic braking system, and a suspension system to enhance handling and ride comfort. Under the hood of the new Mazda CX-5 is a 2.5L naturally aspirated, four-cylinder e-Skyactiv-G gasoline engine, paired with a 24V mild hybrid system, replacing the previous 2.0L engine. The transmission is the same Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic as before. The engine produces a maximum power of 141 horsepower and a maximum torque of 238 Nm. The car continues to be available in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions, as before.
In terms of safety, the new generation adds knee airbags for the driver, bringing the total to seven airbags, along with additional features in the active safety system such as Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), which automatically steers the vehicle in dangerous situations, for example, when there is a vehicle in the blind spot, and a driver attention monitoring system. The price of the new 2026 Mazda CX-5 in Vietnam is, of course, still unknown. However, according to automotive experts, the CX-5 hybrid version is predicted to have a retail price of around 1.1 billion VND. The all-gasoline versions will be priced under 1 billion VND. Meanwhile, the current version is being sold at prices ranging from 749 to 979 million VND, making it one of the most attractive models in its segment in Vietnam today. This December 2025, the car is being offered with a starting price of only 709 million VND.
