"This is the amount of salary that was deferred during the pandemic. Barcelona has continued to pay Messi, Alba, Suarez, and Busquets regularly as agreed, and is expected to pay the entire amount owed in 2025," AS reported.

"These payments, which were provisioned for from the 2020-2021 season and therefore will not affect Barcelona's current budget, will have an impact on the Catalan club's cash flow," AS reported.
On October 19th, FC Barcelona will hold its Board of Directors meeting. During the meeting, they will present and vote on the closing of the financial year. Current reports indicate a net loss of €91 million for Barcelona, along with a proposed budget for the 2024-2025 season. The Catalan club expects a profit of around €5 million for the next season, with projected revenue of €893 million – €1 million less than last year's total revenue – and expenses of €873 million, according to AS .
"Barcelona's revenue from commercial activities within the budget has seen significant growth, increasing from €374 million to €446 million, a rise of €72 million. This is thanks to improved contracts with kit sponsor Nike, along with other business revenues. Barcelona president Joan Laporta declared that the team is the best brand in global football and is expected to renew its contract with Nike for another 10 years," AS emphasized.
Nevertheless, the Catalan club's cash flow was significantly affected, as they had to pay the outstanding salaries of star players such as Messi, Alba, Suarez, and Busquets, along with many others.
While playing for Inter Miami, Messi still received his salary from Barcelona because of outstanding debts from many years ago.
Barcelona's revenue is expected to improve when they reopen the Spotify Nou Camp stadium after its reconstruction, which is scheduled to open in 2026.
However, the stadium could generate an additional €28 million in operating income in the short term, but will only operate at 60% capacity for part of the 2024-2025 season. This is expected to bring in around €154 million for Barcelona's 2024-2025 financial year, compared to €126 million earned the previous year at the Olympic Lluis Companys stadium, which Barcelona is currently using temporarily as their home ground.
Despite their still-difficult but improving financial situation, FC Barcelona hopes to attract more investors and sponsors so they can still have enough funds to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window of 2025, as well as sign new contracts for striker Dani Olmo and midfielder Pau Victor.
