
Applications in Microsoft's Office suite, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, have faced increasing competition from rival Google in recent times.

Commercial Office subscription price increases are not common. Microsoft offers Office 365 subscriptions for commercial use, which include access to productivity apps, along with higher-priced Microsoft 365 subscriptions that include Windows operating system updates.
For small and medium-sized businesses, the Microsoft 365 Business Basic plan will increase to $7 per person per month, up from $6 per month. Microsoft 365 Business Standard will cost $14 per month, up from $12.50 per month. Microsoft 365 Business Premium will remain at $22 per month.
Meanwhile, the basic Office 365 E1 package for businesses will still cost $10/month. The price of the Office 365 E3 package will increase by 13% from $23/month to $26/month. The Microsoft 365 E3 package, which includes Windows for Business, will increase by 8% from $36/month to $39/month. The price of the full-featured Microsoft 365 E5 will increase from $57/month to $60/month.
For workers in positions such as cashiers, the Microsoft 365 F1 subscription will cost $3/month, up from $2.25/month previously. The Microsoft 365 F3 price will be $10/month, up slightly from $8/month previously.
The US Department of War and other government customers will receive a similar percentage price increase.
The various subscription plans do not include access to the $30/month Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on, which uses generative AI models. Some businesses began rolling out Copilot broadly last week, while others have yet to expand.
The Productivity and Business Processes segment, which includes Office, accounted for nearly 43% of Microsoft's $77.7 billion in revenue in its fiscal first quarter. Microsoft said in October 2025 that revenue from its Microsoft 365 commercial cloud services grew 17%, while subscriptions increased 6%, driven largely by products aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
