Min Hee Jin establishes new entertainment company: Preparing to recruit NewJeans?

Amidst a sensitive time when the exclusive contract war between NewJeans and ADOR is about to enter the first instance trial, Min Hee Jin quietly launched a new 'move': establishing her own entertainment company.

According to Korean media, "NewJeans' mother" - former CEO of ADOR - Min Hee Jin completed the legal registration procedure for "OK" Company (full name: ooak Co., Ltd.) from October 16.

Will NewJeans go home with Min Hee Jin?

The company's scope of operations includes artist management, music production, album release, performance organization, almost a "miniature entertainment studio".

Notably, the company's headquarters is located in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, an area famous for a series of big brands and according to sources, a new building is under construction here.

Observers say this is Min Hee Jin's strategic move to prepare for the "post-ADOR era".

Since being dismissed as CEO of ADOR in August 2024, she has been largely "in hiding". The fact that she chose the time right before the trial to make public her new plan has attracted special public attention.

On October 30, the court will issue a first instance verdict in ADOR's lawsuit requesting confirmation of the validity of its exclusive contract with NewJeans.

And the biggest question now is: If NewJeans wins the lawsuit, will the whole group "come home" with Min Hee Jin at OK Company?

This possibility is not without basis. NewJeans members have expressed their deep attachment and trust in Min Hee Jin.

In court documents, they described returning to ADOR as "returning a victim of school violence to the bully," expressing their disapproval of their former employer.

The group once intended to operate independently under the name "NJZ", but this plan was blocked by the court, which also stipulated that each member who operated independently would have to pay up to 1 billion won in compensation.

However, the road ahead is still full of challenges. In the previous two lawsuits, NewJeans lost, making experts worried about the outcome of the upcoming first instance trial.

Meanwhile, Min Hee Jin is still involved in another legal dispute with HYBE regarding the cancellation of the shareholder agreement and share buyback.

On one side is the determination of the NewJeans girls to "break out of their cocoons", on the other side are strict legal constraints and huge compensation risks. Meanwhile, Min Hee Jin's "new home" is ready, but the "contractual shackles" with ADOR have not been removed.

The birth of OK Entertainment is not only an act of self-employment but also a mirror reflecting the fragile power between producers, idols and capitalists in the K-pop industry.

Will the October verdict pave the way for Min Hee Jin and NewJeans to reunite, or will it further confirm the unshakeable power of capitalism? The answer will be revealed at the fateful trial on October 30.
