Thanh Ha pottery village is located along a branch of the Thu Bon River that flows into Cua Dai. From Hoi An ancient town, tourists can visit the village by both water and land. Previously, boats used to dock to visit the craft village, but due to unregulated and unsafe practices, the authorities have ordered it to stop.
Mr. Bui Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay Ward, said that based on Government Decree 140 on the delineation of authority between two levels of local government, including the decentralization related to the management of waterways, the locality has worked with the City Department of Construction to complete the relevant legal documents, including conditions regarding infrastructure for wharves, waiting areas, etc., before issuing a decision to announce the waterway serving tourism activities.
The tourist wharf is located at Km1+600 on the second tributary of the Thu Bon River, on the left bank of Hoi An Tay ward. The owner is the Public Service Supply Center of Hoi An Tay ward.
The wharf belongs to the group of level 3 wharves; the design area is 76.5m² , including a T-shaped berth, access roads, waiting area, management building and auxiliary facilities, permitted to receive vessels with a draft of 0.56m, carrying 40 passengers.
Mr. Bui Van Dung shared that reopening the tourist waterway terminal is a significant effort by the government to diversify experiential services for visitors, and is of great interest and anticipation to many people in the pottery village. Previously, when the terminal was still operational, it was estimated that more than 70% of visitors to the pottery village arrived by waterway, mainly international tourists.

Thanh Ha pottery village, located not far from Hoi An ancient town, has a history of over 500 years of formation and development. Before 2000, it mainly produced everyday pottery such as pots, pans, and piggy banks (money-saving containers similar to clay piggy banks)...
In 2001, the pottery village began to shift its focus to tourism, gradually becoming the most bustling craft village attraction in the city, and even in Central Vietnam.
At its peak in 2019, over 707,000 visitors purchased tickets to tour the village, generating tens of billions of VND in revenue. Since 2022, although tourism activities have only recently recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic, they have achieved steady growth. In 2024 alone, over 509,000 visitors toured the village.

The development of tourism not only contributes to the effective preservation of traditional craft villages but also creates sustainable livelihoods for the people through craft demonstrations for tourists and the sale of souvenirs.
Currently, Thanh Ha pottery village has 32 production facilities (4 of which specialize in traditional pottery) with approximately 70 workers directly involved, earning an average income of 8-10 million VND per month.
