Secret Garden's secret gift to Vietnam

Not having had time to rest after a long flight from Oslo (Norway) to Hanoi in the late afternoon of October 16, the legendary duo Secret Garden attended a media meeting on the morning of October 17 organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group Vietnam to share about their most special performance ever on the evening of October 18 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi.

The Secret Garden Live in Vietnam program is the third concert within the framework of the international music project series for the community Good Morning Vietnam initiated and implemented by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group Vietnam, after the success of the two events Kenny G Live in Vietnam and Bond Live in Vietnam . Like previous years, all revenue from ticket sales for the concert will be used for charity purposes - a humanitarian purpose maintained by the Organizing Committee.

Unlike the event two years ago, when Kenny G and the band Bond performed in Vietnam, the legendary duo Secret Garden will perform in Vietnam for the first time. The Secret Garden Live in Vietnam concert is also the opening point for Secret Garden's world tour to celebrate the band's 30th anniversary this year.

The organizers said that the Secret Garden show in Hanoi will be performed in a common format and meet international standards in terms of stage and sound. Secret Garden will bring a collection of works that have made their name, divided into 3 main themes: nature; beautiful scenery, human relationships; culture.

With a minimalist stage setting, honoring the storytelling through sound, Vietnamese audiences will be led through a poetic journey of enjoyment. From “wordless” melodies rich in imagery to hybrid songs between classical, Nordic folk and Celtic, suitable for the sophisticated enjoyment space of Vietnamese audiences during the autumn days of Hanoi.

Rolf Løvland was surprised because the Secret Garden stage in Vietnam was so beautiful.

Rolf Løvland of the band shared: “We are really looking forward to the performances in Vietnam. This is the first time we have set foot in this beautiful country and that makes us extremely excited. When the band posted information about the tour on their fanpage, we saw many Vietnamese audiences commenting, saying hello and expressing their love for Secret Garden’s music.

It is that warm affection that makes us feel a special connection with the Vietnamese audience, even though we have never met them. Vietnam brings us a very special inspiration, and we hope to repay that affection with profound and memorable performances."

Director Pham Hoang Nam is in charge of the stage for the show and the concept for filming the MV.

He also revealed that, after the show in Hanoi, Secret Garden will continue their tour in major cities in China before returning to Norway, but Vietnam was chosen as the opening point for the world tour celebrating 30 years of their career because the group "felt the warm affection and passion for music of the Vietnamese audience".

Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper said that although the Organizing Committee had contacted the group 2 years ago, this time they were lucky to be able to match the performance schedule with Secret Garden. He said that in addition to the 2 performances in Vietnam, the group will film the MV in Ninh Binh - a place with diverse and beautiful scenery that is very suitable for the group's music, but has not revealed which works will be selected to film the MV.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh revealed that he asked the artists if they knew many Vietnamese people loved their music and Secret Garden said they had known this for a long time. The artists had read about the flood situation in Vietnam while in Norway and they were happy to know that the program would transfer all the revenue to charity activities.

Fionnuala Sherry of the group shared: "I am very honored to come to Vietnam for the first time. We know that there are Vietnamese audiences who have listened to our music for 10-15 years and we believe this is an honor for us to come here and want to say hello to the audiences."

Mr. Le Quoc Minh said he wanted to invite Secret Garden to Vietnam 2 years ago.

Rolf Løvland revealed that Secret Garden Live in Vietnam will be a unique show combining new songs with familiar songs of the group such as: Nocturne, Songs From A Secret Garden . He also thanked director Pham Hoang Nam for bringing a beautiful stage that fits the music of Secret Garden.

Fionnuala Sherry said that with 13 albums and more than 150 recordings, each performance of the group is different because the emotions are always changing, so no performance is the same and it is the audience that is the motivation to bring new emotions to Secret Garden in each performance.

Secret Garden donated a guitar to the organizers.

She believes that life is busy now, people are stressed and focus too much on electronic devices and social networks without thinking about themselves. Therefore, Secret Garden hopes that the audience can find peace of mind through the group's music.

Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong - Chairman of IBGroup Vietnam said that when welcoming Secret Garden at the airport, he just hoped that the artists would be healthy because they did not have much time, on the evening of October 18, they would perform a main show with more than 30 songs, on the evening of October 19, they would perform a private show, on the 20th, they would film a MV in Binh Binh, and on October 21, Secret Garden would fly to China to continue their tour. In addition, instead of the 2 tons of equipment that were sent to Hanoi many days in advance as planned, this time the equipment was sent on the same flight as the group from Norway to Hanoi.
