A bank suddenly reduced deposit interest rates

(NLĐO) - On the deposit interest rate market, while many banks continue to increase rates, some institutions are adjusting them downwards.


Bank interest rates on December 10th saw several notable fluctuations. Among them, DongABank continued to join the group of banks that increased interest rates in December.

According to the new interest rate schedule, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms at DongABank is 4.1%/year, for 3-5 month terms is 4.3%/year, and for 6-8 month terms is 5.55%/year. The highest interest rate at DongABank reaches 6.1%/year for terms of 18 months or more. The increase in interest rates for terms under 6 months is 0.2 percentage points.

VIB has also just adjusted its interest rates upwards, with a 1-month term at 3.5%/year and a 6-9 month term at 4.7%/year - an increase of up to 0.2 percentage points compared to before.

Conversely, BacABank adjusted interest rates downwards for some terms. Specifically, the interest rate for a 1-month term decreased to 3.7%/year, a reduction of 0.15 percentage points, while other terms decreased by 0.1 to 0.15 percentage points. The highest interest rate at BacABank is 5.95%/year for terms of 18 months or more.

According to statistics from MBS Securities Company, after two months of stagnation, deposit interest rates began to increase from November, ranging from 0.1 to 0.7 percentage points at 16 banks, including Agribank , Techcombank, and MB. This upward trend is expected to continue until the end of the year, given that credit growth as of November 22nd reached 11.12% compared to the end of last year - nearly double the rate of deposit growth.

Notably, the average 12-month deposit interest rate of commercial banks reached 5% by the end of November, an increase of 0.14 percentage points compared to the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, interest rates at state-owned commercial banks remained at 4.7%, 0.26 percentage points lower than at the beginning of the year.
