Welcome the golden boys of the International Mathematical Olympiad

(Baohatinh.vn) - Leaders of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, the Board of Directors of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, along with friends and relatives, went to Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) to welcome the golden faces of the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad.

On the morning of July 21, Tran Minh Hoang (grade 12 Math 1 - Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted), Vo Trong Khai (grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An province) and the Vietnamese student delegation participating in the 66th International Math Olympiad in 2025 in Australia arrived in Hanoi to the joyful welcome of many teachers, relatives and friends.

At the welcoming ceremony, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh and the Board of Directors of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted presented flowers to congratulate, acknowledge and commend the outstanding achievements of Tran Minh Hoang who had just won at the recent International Mathematical Olympiad. At the same time, they affirmed that the Gold Medal of Tran Minh Hoang and another son of Ha Tinh, Vo Trong Khai (grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An province) not only further glorifies the tradition of studiousness and good study of the land of Hong Lam but also creates an important highlight in improving the quality of key education of the education and training sector, while contributing to affirming the position of Vietnamese education in international arenas.

The Vietnamese math team finished the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad in 9th place, up 24 places from 2024. Notably, all 6 students of the Vietnamese delegation participating in the competition won medals, including: 2 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

With a score of 35/42 points, Tran Minh Hoang (grade 12 Math 1 - Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted) excellently won the gold medal. Along with Tran Minh Hoang, another student from Ha Tinh, Vo Trong Khai (grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An province) also excellently won the gold medal.

This is the second time Tran Minh Hoang has won an International Math Olympiad medal, and the fourth consecutive year that the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training has had students win international medals.

Previously, in 2024, at the International Mathematical Olympiad - IMO held in the UK, Tran Minh Hoang, then a student of grade 11 Math 1 - Ha Tinh Specialized High School, also won a Silver Medal.
