Welcome the golden boys of the International Math Olympiad

(Baohatinh.vn) - Leaders of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, the Board of Directors of Ha Tinh Specialized High School, Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, along with friends and relatives, went to Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) to welcome the golden faces of the 2025 International Math Olympiad.

On the morning of July 21st, Tran Minh Hoang (12th grade, Math 1 class - Ha Tinh Specialized High School), Vo Trong Khai (12th grade, Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An province), and the Vietnamese student delegation participating in the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad 2025 in Australia arrived back in Hanoi to a joyful welcome from numerous teachers, relatives, and friends.

At the welcoming ceremony, leaders of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training and the Board of Directors of Ha Tinh Specialized High School presented flowers to congratulate, acknowledge, and praise the outstanding achievement of Tran Minh Hoang at the recent International Mathematical Olympiad. They also affirmed that Tran Minh Hoang's gold medal, along with that of another Ha Tinh native, Vo Trong Khai (12th grade, Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An province), not only further glorifies the tradition of studiousness and academic excellence of the Hong Lam region but also creates an important highlight in improving the quality of advanced education within the education sector, while contributing to affirming the position of Vietnamese education in international competitions.

The Vietnamese mathematics team finished the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad in 9th place, an increase of 24 places compared to 2024. Notably, all six students in the Vietnamese team won medals, including: 2 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, and 1 Bronze medal.

With a score of 35/42 points, Tran Minh Hoang (12th grade Math 1 - Ha Tinh Specialized High School) excellently won the gold medal. Along with Tran Minh Hoang, another student from Ha Tinh, Vo Trong Khai (12th grade, Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An province), also excellently won a gold medal.

This is the second time Tran Minh Hoang has won a medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, and it is also the fourth consecutive year that the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province has had a student win an international medal.

Previously, in 2024, at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in the United Kingdom, Tran Minh Hoang, then a student in the 11th grade Math 1 class at Ha Tinh Specialized High School, also excellently won a Silver Medal.
