
Pangasius fish ponds are being harvested in Tan Loc ward, Can Tho city.
The city's Department of Agriculture and Environment has issued 32 food safety certificates for aquaculture areas; 7,560 certificates confirming registration for cage aquaculture, focusing on key aquaculture species; and 1,297 certificates for exploited aquatic products, with a total volume of over 1,305 tons… The entire city has 796 registered fishing vessels with a total capacity of 210,528 horsepower, including 48 vessels providing logistics services for the fishing industry; 377 out of 465 vessels with a maximum length of 12 meters or more have had their registration renewed, reaching 81.08%, and 796 out of 796 fishing licenses have been issued according to regulations. In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has coordinated with localities to manage prohibited fishing practices, review, disseminate information, and encourage commitments not to violate fishing regulations…
By the beginning of October 2025, the entire city had 89,740 hectares of aquaculture farms, reaching 92.99% of the plan, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year; the total production from aquaculture and fishing reached 577,516 tons, achieving 74% of the plan, a 7% increase compared to the same period (525,250 tons from aquaculture and 52,226 tons from fishing). Aquaculture farmers achieved high efficiency thanks to management, technical support for farming, disease prevention, and expansion of export markets from specialized units and relevant city agencies.
In the final months of 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to closely monitor the development of aquaculture in the area; strengthen the implementation of the program to monitor residue levels in farmed aquatic animals and animal products; assess and certify aquaculture facilities that meet food safety standards; build a safe aquatic food supply chain; support the development of the aquatic product export market; strengthen inspection, supervision, and support for farmers in applying measures to prevent and control aquatic diseases, ensuring food safety and hygiene.
