When should I eat fruit?

VnExpressVnExpress18/11/2023

After every meal, I often consume fruit, especially in the evening. Is this good and when should I not eat it? (Ha, 35 years old, Hanoi )

Reply:

Eating fruit right after a meal is a habit of many families, especially in the evening when there is a lot of time to gather. However, eating too much fruit in the evening will put pressure on the stomach, especially the type with a lot of vitamin C such as guava, grapefruit, orange, tangerine..., making it difficult for you to sleep. You should also not consume it right after a meal because when your stomach is full, the fruit puts more pressure on the stomach.

In addition, avoid eating fruit close to bedtime because it can cause stomach upset, especially with types that contain a lot of sugar, causing the body to accumulate more energy, affecting the digestive system.

Ripe fruit is an important source of fiber, vitamins and minerals for the body. The World Health Organization recommends that an adult should eat at least 100-200g per day. Experts advise not to eat at one time but to divide into several small meals, before meals, to help the body receive enough and even amounts of vitamins and minerals.

People should also consume a variety of fruits. Use seasonal products because these will be more nutritious and less contaminated with plant preservatives.
