Tourism and travel businesses believe this could be the key product to attract international visitors to the city in the near future.
The grand outdoor musical took place on the Saigon River, recreating historical stories through unique artistic language, with the participation of more than a thousand actors, creating a colorful picture on the opening night of the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival 2024.
Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Marketing and Communications Director of Saigontourist Travel, said that the feedback from the groups of tourists who bought the tour and participated in the Legendary Train show on the evening of May 31 was very emotional and full of compliments. The common feeling was that everyone was proud that Vietnam had such a unique and magnificent program.
"There are tourists who have watched musical shows in Sentosa (Singapore) who also commented that Vietnam's Legendary Train is many times better. More importantly, they were moved by the show and still felt regretful when it ended," Ms. Tra shared.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Quy Huy, general director of Kiwi Travel, could not hide his admiration for the grandeur and special space of the musical on the Saigon River.
"Telling a historical story and taking place on the Saigon River are probably the two biggest highlights that I think of the program. This is truly a product that tourists look forward to when coming to the city and is far superior to other art programs," Mr. Huy commented.
Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the department has invited many investors and accompanying units to participate in the second Ho Chi Minh City River Festival to evaluate its effectiveness. Based on this, the department will consider expanding the performance programs to a more regular frequency.
