The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway, with a total investment of over 20,400 billion VND, is 88km long and passes through the territories of two provinces: Quang Ngai (60.3km) and Gia Lai (27.7km). This is the largest project among the 12 component projects of the North-South Expressway in the 2021-2025 period.
This is not only the result of persistent efforts but also a significant contribution to the nation's grand goal of completing over 3,000 km of expressways nationwide, connecting Cao Bang to Ca Mau, opening up a new face for the transportation infrastructure system and providing impetus for socio-economic development for decades to come.
The contractor is currently completing the installation of road signs, painting road markings, cleaning the road surface, etc., along the route. The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway includes 77 bridges, 586 culverts, and 81 pedestrian underpasses. In the photo: Song Ve Bridge (Dinh Cuong commune), with a length of 610m, is the largest bridge in the project. The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has three tunnels through the mountains with a total length of 4,500 meters, of which tunnel number 3 is 3,200 meters long, making it the largest tunnel on the North-South expressway. Tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 have completed the installation of equipment and are currently undergoing trial runs of the ventilation system, lighting, public address system, fire fighting equipment, etc. Tunnel No. 3 is 3,200 meters long and contains 20 jet fans, 1,734 lighting fixtures with power ranging from 40W to 220W, and various other equipment, all of which are being urgently installed and cleaned.
In the tunnel sections, Deo Ca Group has drawn on experience from many previous complex projects and created the innovative "NATM Deo Ca tunneling system" method, which has shortened construction time and contributed to bringing the project to completion 8 months ahead of schedule. The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, with its starting point connecting to the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway and its end point connecting to the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway, when operational, will not only alleviate traffic pressure on National Highway 1 but also open a new economic connection axis, fully unlocking the region's development potential and creating a growth impetus for the entire country.
