September 10, completing preparations for the launching ceremony of the pilot operation of the Ban Gioc Waterfall Cross-Border Tourist Landscape Area (Vietnam)

On the morning of August 31st, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh chaired a meeting on issues related to the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in Protecting and Exploiting Tourism Resources of Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) - Duc Thien Waterfall (China).

Attendees included members of the Provincial Coordination Committee for the implementation of the Agreement under Decision No. 477/QD-UBND and members of the Standing Office of the Provincial Coordination Committee for the implementation of the Agreement under Decision No. 478/QD-UBND dated May 1, 2023 of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives from several relevant departments and agencies.

The meeting approved the decision to establish the Organizing Committee and the Organizing Committee's Working Group for the Pilot Operation Ceremony for tourists to cross the Ban Gioc Waterfall Scenic Area (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China); the plan for the Launching Ceremony of the Pilot Operation of the Ban Gioc Waterfall Cross-Border Tourist Scenic Area (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China). Accordingly, the launching ceremony will take place from 9:00 to 10:00 ( Hanoi time) on September 15, 2023 at the Crossing for tourists at the checkpoint of the Ban Gioc Waterfall Scenic Area (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China).

At the meeting, delegates discussed the following issues: preparation regarding personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and security for the opening ceremony and the pilot implementation; issuance of travel permits for tourists; procedures for opening access points; publicity and promotion, especially educating the public about the benefits of the pilot program allowing tourists to pass through the scenic area; and ensuring environmental hygiene…

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh affirmed: The launch of the pilot operation of the cross-border tourism landscape area between Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) and Duc Thien (China) is of great significance, fulfilling the general directives and the Party's views and guidelines on foreign affairs, building a peaceful , friendly, cooperative, and developing border; it is a bright spot and an unprecedented model in cross-border economic cooperation, especially in the field of tourism.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is requested to incorporate revisions and finalize the plan for the launch ceremony; relevant departments, agencies, and forces should urgently coordinate and deploy personnel to ensure smooth operation; additional decorations, flags, banners, and directional signs should be installed at rest stops and parking lots; and checks should be conducted to ensure accuracy in form, organization, and participants. The Provincial People's Committee Office will submit a report to central ministries and agencies on the operating time and method of the scenic area on August 31st, and by September 10th, 2023, complete all procedures to prepare for the successful launch ceremony of the pilot operation of the Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China) cross-border tourism scenic area.
