According to Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the festival is being held at the Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center in Fengtai District, Beijing. This is the largest wholesale fruit market in Beijing, distributing all kinds of fruits from around the world that are officially imported into China.
The center serves not only the needs of over 22 million people in Beijing but also neighboring provinces such as Hubei and Tianjin. It brings together many reputable and high-demand fruit distribution businesses in China, equipped with modern cold storage infrastructure, transportation equipment, and fresh fruit preservation facilities.
The festival's national pavilion area is expected to feature 12 themed display islands showcasing various fruits and sweet potatoes that have been officially exported to China, and one island for a variety of products where Vietnamese businesses can display, introduce, and provide visitors with product experiences.
The promotional message for Vietnamese fruits brought to the capital of a nation with over 1.4 billion people this time is expected to be "Vietnamese Fruits – Delicious in All Seasons" (Vietnamese transliteration: "Vietnam Fruits – Four Seasons of Delicious Flavors"), with the intention of highlighting the superior quality of Vietnamese fruits, which are delicious and have a distinctive taste and flavor compared to fruits not grown in the unique climate and soil conditions of Vietnam.

For many years, China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner. The total bilateral trade between Vietnam and China accounts for one-quarter of Vietnam's total import and export turnover with the world . Conversely, Vietnam is one of China's largest trading partners globally, and its largest partner within ASEAN.
According to the Trade Promotion Agency, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports in the first six months of 2024 reached US$3.33 billion, an increase of 24.3% compared to the same period in 2023. Of this, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to China reached US$2.1 billion, accounting for 64% of total exports, with many products and brands having a strong foothold in China and being favored by consumers.

However, according to Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VINAFRUIT), in recent years, Vietnamese fruits have largely been exported through border trade, informal channels, and directly to southern Chinese provinces bordering Vietnam, such as Guangxi and Yunnan. To develop sustainable exports and achieve higher value, and to penetrate deeper into the Chinese market, Vietnamese fruit exports need to shift strongly towards formal channels combined with promoting the image and brand of the country.
Beijing, as the capital and political , economic, and cultural center of the country, is a high-value market with high demand. Organizing a fruit festival in Beijing to promote the brand and image of delicious and nutritious Vietnamese tropical fruits will attract the attention and participation of numerous Chinese and international businesses.
This will be a good opportunity for Vietnamese producers and suppliers to introduce and promote their brands and the image of their typical fruit products, as well as to find customers and strengthen trade activities.
This event will lay the groundwork and provide experience for organizing more regular specialized festivals not only in Beijing but also in the central and northern regions of China, aiming to connect and expand Vietnamese fruit exports to this market.
Tonight (September 28th), the Gala Dinner of the Vietnam-China Fruit Festival will also take place.
