These days at Cua Sot Fishing Port (Thach Kim Commune, Thach Ha District, Ha Tinh ), fishermen are cleaning up their fishing gear and neatly mooring their boats to rest and celebrate the Year of the Snake.

Fisherman Nguyen Van Truong (38 years old, living in Nghi Son district, Thanh Hoa ) and his fellow fishermen, after unloading the seafood they caught and bringing it ashore to sell to traders, quickly returned to clean the boat to bring it to anchor.

The ship of the fishing group Nguyen Van Truong has a capacity of 260CV, the last trip of 2024, after a day and night at sea, caught many kinds of seafood, earning 12 million VND.

Mr. Truong said that he and his group of friends have been fishing in the waters of Ha Tinh for many years now. Their boats often catch seafood such as shrimp, crab, and fish, 15-20 nautical miles from shore.

In previous years, the weather was bad and the waves were big at the end of the year, so Mr. Truong and his group of friends often brought their boats to shore early to rest and return home. This year, the weather was favorable, the boats caught a lot of seafood, so Mr. Truong's group let their boats sail until the days before Tet.

"This year the weather is quite favorable so we go out to sea more often. After a day and night at sea, after deducting expenses, the four of us earned more than 8 million VND" - Mr. Truong said excitedly.

According to Mr. Truong, during this time, most of the boats going out to sea catch many kinds of valuable seafood. There are boats that go for a long time and catch a catch worth hundreds of millions of dong. Boats fishing close to shore also earn tens of millions of dong after a day and night of fishing at sea.

Fisherman Ngo Van Dao (33 years old, living in Thach Kim commune) and his friends are rearranging their fishing gear to prepare to bring the boat to the anchorage to rest and celebrate Tet. The last trip of 2024, Dao's group's boat caught 1.6 tons of seafood in nearly a week, including grouper, spotted fish... and sold for about 90 million VND.

Mr. Dao said he was very excited that this trip had yielded valuable seafood, bringing in high income for him and his crew. After Tet, hoping for good weather, his group plans to set sail again around the 6th or 8th.
