People in the highlands of Da Nang carry coffins through floodwaters for burial

DNO - Prolonged heavy rain caused the stream water to rise, roads to be cut off, people of Tra Doc commune braved the danger to cross the rushing water to carry the coffin to the burial.

On the afternoon of October 27, a clip was circulated on social media recording a group of people in Tra Doc commune carrying a coffin across a fast-flowing stream, moving many people.

In the clip, more than 10 people wearing raincoats, conical hats, and using walking sticks to feel the way, strained to carry the coffin across a waist-deep stream. At times, the strong current tilted the coffin, but everyone tried to keep their balance and bring the coffin safely to the other side.

The leader of Tra Doc Commune People's Committee confirmed that the incident happened in Village 5 of the commune on the afternoon of October 27. The deceased was an old woman in the village. Due to prolonged rain and floods, the stream water rose, forcing the family to leave the coffin in the house for three days. The local government has grasped the situation, mobilized relatives and sent forces to support.

It was not until the afternoon of October 27, when the rain stopped, that people were able to carry the coffin across the stream to take the old man to his resting place in the forest.
