Former President Nguyen Minh Triet visits and works at Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park.

On the morning of December 11th, a delegation led by Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet, former member of the Politburo and former President of Vietnam, visited and worked at the Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park in Thai Thuy district.

Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, reported on the socio-economic development situation of the province.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, reported to former President Nguyen Minh Triet and the delegation on the outstanding achievements in socio-economic development of Thai Binh province during the first half of the term. He emphasized that the average economic growth rate for the period 2021-2023 is estimated at 8.56% per year, significantly higher than the national average; the size of the economy in 2023 is estimated at over 68,300 billion VND, 1.3 times higher than in 2020. The proportion of industry, construction, and services in the GRDP increased from 72.5% in 2020 to 79% in 2023. During the period 2021-2023, the province consistently ranked among the top in the country in terms of the high disbursement rate of public investment capital.

The Thai Binh Economic Zone has been established and quickly affirmed its role as a key economic development hub, contributing significantly to attracting foreign investment. Investment promotion and attraction activities in the Economic Zone and industrial parks and clusters have been intensified, with many innovations and high efficiency. From 2021 to the present, the entire province has approved, adjusted investment policies, and granted investment registration certificates for 274 projects with a total registered capital of over 57,100 billion VND, especially attracting FDI capital. In 2023, the total registered capital of FDI projects invested in the province reached over 3 billion USD. Thai Binh currently has 10 industrial parks and 49 industrial clusters. Particularly outstanding and attractive is the Thai Binh Economic Zone with an area of over 30,500 hectares, with 22 industrial parks covering an area of over 8,000 hectares. In particular, the Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park has completed its infrastructure, attracting 14 investment projects with a total capital of over 1.2 billion USD. To date, 5 projects have entered stable operation and 9 projects are under construction, expected to be operational in 2024. In addition, Thai Binh province always prioritizes the development of regional and inter-regional transportation infrastructure, with many roads being invested in and constructed, such as the coastal road and the southern ring road of Thai Binh city; in the near future, construction will begin on the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway (CT.08), the section passing through Nam Dinh and Thai Binh provinces.

The new rural development program continues to be implemented effectively and efficiently. In 2023, an additional 10 communes were recognized, bringing the total number of communes recognized as meeting advanced new rural development standards to 34. Cultural and social fields are comprehensively and thoroughly managed, adapting to local conditions and effectively meeting the requirements of economic development and serving the people's lives. Local defense and military affairs are strengthened. Political security and social order in the province are maintained.

Speaking at the meeting, former President Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his pleasure and high appreciation for the socio-economic achievements of Thai Binh province in recent years. Despite the general difficulties, Thai Binh has united and strived to overcome challenges to achieve very proud results. Former President Nguyen Minh Triet hoped that Thai Binh province would continue to build on its achievements, make the most of its existing potential and advantages, maintain its confidence, and pursue its set goals to find appropriate steps and approaches to help Thai Binh achieve even stronger breakthroughs.

The former President also suggested that Thai Binh province should pay more attention to the training of cadres and high-quality human resources, creating conditions to promote industrial development; continue to innovate thinking, dare to think and dare to act; formulate stronger policies, and promote the tradition of internal unity to work together towards common goals. Continue to effectively implement several key tasks such as: planning and expanding the economic development space towards the sea; focusing on building connecting infrastructure to create breakthroughs for the province; focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses; focusing on improving the investment and business environment, enhancing provincial competitiveness to boost investment attraction; and effectively implementing social welfare programs…

Comrade Ngo Dong Hai, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, respectfully thanked former President Nguyen Minh Triet for his special affection and attention to Thai Binh province. He also affirmed the province's determination in socio-economic development, especially in daring to think bigger and more challenging with the highest resolve to soon bring Thai Binh to strong, rapid, and sustainable development, worthy of its revolutionary traditions, the great sacrifices of previous generations, and the expectations of the people of the province.
