Sitting in the hot seat of the Talent Rendezvous contest , musician Huy Tuan is called "the principal" alongside two other "teachers", Truc Nhan and Ho Ngoc Ha. He is called that because many people consider him to be the most strict judge in terms of expertise when commenting on the contestants. Once, Ho Ngoc Ha even "lovingly scolded" him for being "a bit too much".

In each round, debates between judges are inevitable. But according to musician Huy Tuan - who has held the role of "hot seat" for many years, in music competitions such things are very normal, even "daily".

"Debates between judges are very normal. Each person has their own taste and artistic perspective. A competition without debates among judges would be strange. Debate only expresses opinions, while the score is the final and most accurate choice of each judge at that exact moment," musician Huy Tuan affirmed.

He shared that each judge has his own artistic perception, but all the performances are scored directly after the contestants perform. This helps eliminate bias or being influenced by other opinions backstage.

Huy Tuan said the judges are not too concerned about whether the contestants continue or stop, but what they care about is what the contestants have left after the competition to continue their career, that is the real value.

"It's normal to stop in a competition. What's important is that we give you the tools to continue your career seriously later," he said.

Therefore, not every eliminated contestant causes regret for the judges. Huy Tuan shared that this year's competition season, the selection process was screened from the beginning, the contestants coming to the competition were clearly aware of the criteria and orientation of the program, so even the organizing committee highly agreed with the final choices.

When asked about the case of contestant Quang Anh - who was commented to have many tricks on stage but did not really break through and still made it to liveshow 3 before stopping, musician Huy Tuan had a straightforward view. "It is true that he did not have many variations, but on the general level, he still stands out from the other contestants. Stability is sometimes an advantage, not only in the competition, but also later in his career," he said.

Huy Tuan explained that, for a performing artist, sometimes it is not necessary to be a "chameleon" to make an impression, but more important is to establish a personal mark and suit the audience's taste. From that perspective, Quang Anh has the potential to become an outstanding entertainer after the competition, and can even succeed sooner than the highest prize winner.

"He knows what he is suitable for and what he can do. Nowadays, singing voice is not everything. You need a team, direction, clear personality... Quang Anh can be such an artist," said musician Huy Tuan.

Looking back on his many years as a judge, Huy Tuan believes that the level of contestants has changed in recent years. In the past, when there was a contest, contestants flocked to it, but now contestants are more selective.

"They look at the judges and the spirit of the organizers to consider whether it is suitable or not, whether it is worth trying. That makes the input quality better right from the qualifying round," the musician said.

Regarding the orientation of choosing the contestant to win the highest position, Huy Tuan emphasized that the judges prioritize those who have the ability to develop long-term and comprehensively: " We choose all-round artists: with vocal ability, performance, and arrangement skills... Such people can step out of the competition and pursue a serious and sustainable career.

Therefore, we do not look for people who are just trendy or "cause a storm" in a few rounds of competition, but aim for people with a solid foundation, clear career thinking, and in line with the long-term development trend of the music market," musician Huy Tuan affirmed.

Quang Anh from "Come Home, My Child" explained his tearful performance on live broadcast . "Right before the competition day, both options were rejected by the Organizing Committee, leaving me no time to react. If I had been informed earlier, I could have changed to a more suitable song," Quang Anh said about his performance at "Talent Rendezvous".
