"On the morning of August 14, the director of Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City convened the entire hospital to direct departments and rooms to review all pediatric patients being treated at Children's Hospital 1 to see if they had received two measles vaccinations," said Mr. Ngo Ngoc Quang Minh, deputy director of Children's Hospital 1.

Dr. Quang Minh said that children who have not received two measles shots will be examined by a doctor for free to see if they are eligible for measles vaccination.

For children with chronic diseases such as congenital heart disease, hematological, renal, neurological diseases... being vaccinated at Children's Hospital 1 helps the patient's family feel more secure.

Inpatients from 9 months to 5 years old, who are eligible for vaccination and have the consent of their families, will receive free measles vaccination at Children's Hospital 1.

As for children over 5 years old, after being examined for free and eligible for vaccination, the doctor will advise the child to get the measles - mumps - rubella vaccine service right in the hospital because the measles vaccine is only free for children under 5 years old according to the Expanded Immunization Program.

After the "general review" of all inpatients, the following days the hospital will review newly admitted children to see if they have received two measles shots.

For children who have not received two measles shots, the doctor will examine and advise, and with the family's consent, the hospital will also vaccinate the child.

Children's Hospital 1 has screened, examined, consulted, and vaccinated inpatients against measles since the 2018 measles epidemic. But with the current high measles rate, the hospital is working harder.

Similarly, since August 2, Children's Hospital 2 has also provided free measles vaccinations for inpatients from 9 months to 5 years old who have not received two measles vaccinations.

Children over 5 years old who have not received two measles shots will be examined, consulted, and vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella at the hospital if the patient's family agrees.
