As Valentine's Day (February 14th) approaches, the market for fresh flowers and gifts is becoming bustling. This year, Valentine's Day falls on a Friday and doesn't coincide with the Lunar New Year holiday like last year, giving flower and gift shops more time to prepare and serve customers, hoping for increased sales.

According to observations at supermarkets, gift shops in the province, and on social media, the market for flowers and gifts for Valentine's Day this year is quite abundant and diverse, with prices not differing much from last year.
Fresh flowers, especially roses, have always been a popular gift for Valentine's Day due to their natural beauty and symbolism of love. Sharing his thoughts on this year's gift trends, Mr. Dinh Trung Thanh, owner of Thanh Anh flower shop on Hung Vuong Street, Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City, said: "As usual, the majority of flower orders are concentrated on February 13th and 14th. On these days, the number of orders can double compared to normal days, ranging from 50 to 70 bouquets/arrangements per day. Depending on the customer's preferences, the shop will advise on suitable types of fresh flowers."
Regarding prices, according to Mr. Thanh and many other flower shop owners, the price of fresh flowers increases by about 30% in the days leading up to Valentine's Day compared to normal days because of the high demand, especially since Valentine's Day this year is only two days after the Lunar New Year, so the supply is limited. Furthermore, fresh flowers are a unique commodity that cannot be stockpiled in advance, so they must be imported daily to ensure freshness and attractive designs, which is why prices fluctuate daily.
Thanh Anh flower shop on Hung Vuong Street, Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City specializes in selling fresh flowers combined with chocolate for Valentine's Day to attract customers.
A survey of fresh flower prices at flower shops in the days leading up to Valentine's Day shows that Da Lat roses are priced at 15,000 VND/flower, an increase of 5,000 VND/flower; red roses are priced at 18,000 - 20,000 VND/flower, an increase of 8,000 - 10,000 VND/flower; tulips are priced at 40,000 VND/flower, an increase of 10,000 VND/flower; white baby's breath is priced at 250,000 VND/bouquet, an increase of 50,000 VND/bouquet...
To offer customers more choices, flower shops have proactively introduced artificial flower arrangements such as scented wax flowers, glitter flowers, and dried flowers, designed around love themes. Besides being more affordable than fresh flowers, artificial flowers have the advantage of closely resembling real flowers, with beautiful colors, a subtle fragrance, and a longer lifespan.
Along with flowers, chocolate is an indispensable gift on Valentine's Day. This year, the chocolate market started quite early with a wide variety of designs. The price of chocolate ranges from 100,000 VND to several hundred thousand VND per box, depending on origin and quality. Ms. Nguyen Ha Ngan, the owner of an online sales account on social media, in Doan Hung town, Doan Hung district, said: Although Valentine's Day is not yet here, the number of customers ordering chocolate is quite high. Among them, chocolate products of Vietnamese origin and "handmade" chocolate are chosen by many people because of their reasonable price, various sizes, and diverse, familiar flavors such as green tea, cocoa, strawberry, etc.
This year's Valentine's Day gift market features teddy bears as a popular item, with prices ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of VND per bear, depending on size and design. Nguyen Manh Ha, 23, from Van Co ward, Viet Tri city, said: "This year, the 'blind box' trend is quite popular among young people because it's both mysterious and exciting, creating a sense of anticipation and curiosity when discovering the character inside. Therefore, teddy bears in blind boxes are highly sought after by young people both in stores and on e-commerce websites this Valentine's Day."
Joining the vibrant atmosphere of the 2025 Valentine's Day gift market, gold, silver, and gemstone businesses in the province are also stepping up their promotional programs to attract customers with beautiful products that truly reflect the meaning of Valentine's Day and offer many attractive promotions. For example, the PNJ chain of stores has launched exquisite designs on the theme of love, including rings, necklaces, and bracelets, to attract customers. In addition, the chain is offering discounts, promotional codes, and especially a free 3-hour express delivery program for customers who order online.
Besides the popular items mentioned above, other products such as cosmetics, clothing, and household goods also have many attractive promotional programs to stimulate shopping during this period.
