At noon on January 20th (approximately midnight on January 21st in Vietnam time), Donald Trump will be sworn in at the Capitol in Washington D.C., becoming the 47th president of the United States. Afterward, he will head to the Capitol One sports and entertainment complex for the presidential parade before traveling to the White House in a motorcade along Pennsylvania Avenue, according to Fox 5 D.C. At the White House, Trump will participate in the traditional Oval Office signing ceremony for executive orders or nominations.

Changes to the security plan.

Meanwhile, CNN, citing several sources, reported that the U.S. Secret Service and other agencies are working to determine how the inauguration of President-elect Trump and the aforementioned indoor parade will alter security plans for the major event. The agencies have only three days, starting January 17th, to develop a new security plan, replacing the previous one that took months to prepare.

On January 17, President-elect Trump announced that his inauguration would take place inside the Capitol Hall due to dangerously cold temperatures forecast for Washington DC. Subsequently, the Joint Congressional Commission on Ceremonies (JCCIC) announced that it would respect Trump's request to move the inauguration ceremony from outside into the Rotunda, the central domed building of the Capitol, according to CNN.

The JCCIC always has contingency plans to hold the inauguration at multiple locations in case of bad weather or other obstacles, but the challenge now is the inability to fit thousands of people into the Rotunda. The building can only accommodate around 700 people and is only open to parliamentarians, their spouses, and key figures, according to CNN, citing a source close to the matter.

The Capitol One Arena has a capacity of over 20,000 people, but law enforcement officials say more than 200,000 people had tickets to the inauguration. Officials said the cold weather prevented the vast majority of guests from attending the inauguration ceremonies in person and they may keep their tickets as souvenirs.

Security measures for the Capitol One Arena and surrounding area are still being implemented by the Secret Service, the Metropolitan Police, and other agencies. Approximately 25,000 law enforcement personnel and soldiers are expected to attend Trump's inauguration, according to CNN.

What will Mr. Trump do on inauguration day?

President-elect Trump arrived in Washington D.C. on January 18th (US time) to attend a series of events leading up to his inauguration. In an interview with NBC News earlier that day, Trump revealed that he intended to sign a record number of executive orders after taking the oath of office, starting "immediately after" his inaugural address. When asked if that number would exceed 100, Trump replied, "At least around that."

President Trump is expected to sign an order repealing many policies implemented by the outgoing administration of President Joe Biden, including the executive order related to the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants in the United States. Trump emphasized to NBC News that the deportation of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. would "be started very quickly."

Meanwhile, thousands of protesters marched through the streets of Washington DC on January 18 to protest against the policies of Trump and the Republican Party. The protesters highlighted a range of issues they believe are being attacked by Trump and Republican leaders, including abortion rights, climate change, the need for better protection against gun violence, and immigrant rights, according to AFP.

Mr. Trump "wants to visit China"

The Wall Street Journal reported on January 18, citing several informed sources, that US President-elect Donald Trump has expressed a desire to visit China within his first 100 days in office. The sources added that through representatives from both sides, Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have discussed a face-to-face meeting.
