Efforts to support livelihood creation and economic empowerment for women

Over the past period, Nestlé Vietnam has collaborated with the Vietnam Women's Union to implement numerous activities supporting women's economic development, aiming to enhance women's economic empowerment, promote gender equality, and work towards sustainable development.

This information was shared by Ms. Truong Thi Thu Thuy, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Family and Social Affairs Department, Vietnam Women's Union, at a training session for media agencies on sustainable development: Creating positive social values ​​through enhancing women's economic empowerment. The program was organized by the Vietnam Women's Union in collaboration with the Office for Sustainable Development Enterprises (under VCCI) and Nestlé Vietnam on December 5th in Soc Trang .

According to Ms. Thuy, the cooperation between the Vietnam Women's Union and Nestlé Vietnam through the "Nestlé accompanies women" program aims to enhance knowledge and skills in accessing and applying digital technology , increase income to improve family quality of life, and empower women, contributing to the realization of the criteria of the "Building the Vietnamese woman of the new era" emulation movement, the "Building a family with 5 no's and 3 clean's" campaign, and the "Family with 5 yes's and 3 clean's" campaign. This focuses on the criteria of a family with "Knowledge; Health; and Sustainable livelihood."

According to Mr. Khuat Quang Hung, Director of External Relations and Communications (Nestlé Vietnam), with its approach of sharing common values, Nestlé Vietnam always links its business development goals with the development and prosperity of the community.

"Throughout nearly three decades of operation in Vietnam, we have continuously strived to promote women's empowerment, particularly in empowering women across the entire value chain. Through our collaboration with the Vietnam Women's Union, we aim to create positive impacts on the lives and status of Vietnamese women, as well as contribute to the common goal of gender equality, promoting diversity, equality, and inclusiveness in Vietnam," Mr. Hung shared.

Mr. Khuat Quang Hung, Director of External Relations and Communications, Nestlé Vietnam, shared about Nestlé's efforts to promote women's empowerment, especially in strengthening women's capabilities.

Soc Trang is one of 18 provinces and cities participating in the "Nestlé accompanies women" initiative. Ms. Tran Thi Kim Phuong, Vice President of the Soc Trang Provincial Women's Union, stated: After the implementation period, Soc Trang currently has 45 communes/450 Nestlé women in 9 districts and towns in the province (an increase of 20 communes and 225 Nestlé women compared to 2023) participating in the "Nestlé accompanies women" program.

Through the implementation of the "Nestlé accompanies women" program, female cadres and members participating in the "Nestlé Sister" and "Cooking with Maggi to build a business" models have gained more knowledge about nutrition, the application of information technology, and opportunities to start their own businesses. This has led to a more stable income, with each Nestlé Sister earning an average of 1,000,000 to 2,500,000 VND per month, contributing to improving the quality of life for female members and residents in the area.

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Phuong, Vice President of the Soc Trang Provincial Women's Union, shared about the positive impacts that the Nestlé Women's Partnership Program has brought to female members in the locality.

"Thanks to the achievements, in 2025, the Provincial Women's Union will direct all levels of the Union to continue promoting and encouraging the establishment of new Nest Sisters; ensuring the maintenance of the current number of Nest Sisters; integrating the activities of Nest Sisters with the Union's work program and women's movements at the grassroots level, contributing to building strong grassroots Unions and continuously improving the capacity of Union officials," said Ms. Tran Thi Kim Phuong.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Huy, Director of the Vietnam Business for Sustainable Development Office (VBCSD, under VCCI), the cooperation between Nestlé and the Vietnam Women's Union through the Nestlé Women's Partnership Program is an innovative and effective collaboration aimed at empowering women, promoting gender equality, improving quality of life, and contributing to the realization of national sustainable development goals. Through participation in practical activities within the program, members and women have gained additional knowledge about nutrition, the application of information technology, and opportunities for entrepreneurship, thereby contributing to increased income, improved quality of life, and the healthy and sustainable development of local communities.

The "Nestlé accompanies women" program, a collaboration between Nestlé Vietnam and the Vietnam Women's Union, was launched in December 2020 for a three-year period (2020-2022) and further extended in November 2022 for a five-year period (2022-2027). The program is currently implemented in 18 provinces and cities nationwide, aiming to enhance women's knowledge and skills, create livelihoods, and contribute to building the modern Vietnamese woman.

To date, the Program has recorded 21,750 women participating in training on nutrition and health safety, with 1,840 livelihood models established and maintained. Accordingly, approximately 1.7 million households have accessed and benefited from the Program.
