The female student said that the scholarship from Monash University for psychology worth 6 billion VND came to Linh by chance. “While searching for short-term exchange programs abroad, I came across an international website that compiled Monash scholarships for Asians. There were names of 3 scholarships but no detailed information. I contacted the school and received the result that it would not open specific information about the registration requirements until May 2024. In May, when I had the information, I started preparing my application,” Linh shared.
The scholarship that the female student received is for students who cannot afford to study abroad on their own to achieve their dreams. Therefore, according to Linh, in order to prepare an impressive application, Linh had to prove to the review board her dreams in the past, present and in the future after completing her bachelor's program at Monash University.
Linh also actively participates in extracurricular activities inside and outside the school. To date, Linh has participated in nearly 20 programs, of which she has been invited to attend international conferences three times. The female student also founded the “Wings” project on school psychology. “Participating in activities has helped me a lot in writing my essay. Through these activities, I have shown the judges my desire and dream to work in the field of psychology and study at Monash University,” Linh said.

Together with 9 students from Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, Linh founded the “Wings” project with the theme of school psychology. The project consists of online and in-person talks and sharing sessions to provide psychological support and motivation for students, especially seniors before stressful exams. Linh and her friends have organized 2 live talks with nearly 2,000 attendees and awarded 10 scholarships to encourage their learning spirit. In case the group does not have enough knowledge to advise, Linh will ask the teacher in charge of school psychology at the school for support.
Linh said that the scholarship is very competitive, only 1-2 scholarships are awarded each year, so before the results were announced, the female student had mentally prepared herself for this failure. Linh confided: “I thought the results would be sent on Monday, so I couldn’t sleep that night. At 11 o’clock, my mother called and I received an email with the subject line congratulating you on passing the English scholarship. At that moment, I was overwhelmed and immediately told my mother. I thought my life had turned a new page from that moment.”
In the future, Linh hopes to pursue graduate studies to become a specialist or psychologist. Linh has a message for young people: “Don’t be afraid that your achievements are not enough to stop you from applying for scholarship programs. You should try and do your best. If you fail, you can still gain experience, which will be very useful for your future journey.”
As Linh's homeroom teacher during her years at Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, Mr. Le Huu Khuyen shared: “Linh is an excellent all-round student. Linh has strengths in communication, presentation, public speaking, is very active in extracurricular activities and is responsible to the community. I am very happy and proud to have received a full scholarship from Monash University, but not surprised because she deserves it. I hope Linh will develop and make efforts in her studies to serve the community, her homeland and her country in the future.”
