In 2013, Mr. Vi decided to convert 4 acres of low-yielding coffee plantations to planting 60 durian trees.
To care for his orchard, he actively learned from the experience of seasoned growers, participating in training sessions and workshops on durian cultivation techniques. Due to the small area, he meticulously and carefully cared for his orchard, installing a water-saving irrigation system, misting, and digging drainage channels to save labor.
The fertilizer he chose was a bio-fertilizer, which he tested numerous times in his garden to ensure safety for both gardeners and consumers.

Mr. and Mrs. Vi inspect their durian orchard.
Mr. Vi shared: "Working in my twilight years multiplies the joy of life, keeps my mind clear and alert, and makes me feel that I am still useful to society." This year, Mr. Vi's family's durian orchard of 60 trees is expected to yield about 15 tons of fruit.
Besides durian, he also cultivates 2 plots of coffee intercropped with Booth avocados. After deducting expenses, he earns over 1 billion VND per year.
Not only is Mr. Vi a prime example of a successful businessman , but he has also served as the head of the Elderly Association in Village 5B for over 10 years.
The branch currently has 43 active members, of which more than 50% specialize in durian cultivation, yielding high economic returns. Members of the branch are always ready to share and support each other in developing their family economies, building the association's fund, participating in cultural and artistic activities, and regularly practicing sports to improve their health.
