Breaking up 2 "super-large" illegal firecracker trading rings, seizing more than 1.9 tons of firecrackers

On December 26, Nghi Loc District Police said that the unit had just successfully dismantled two rings illegally buying, selling and storing a large quantity of firecrackers from abroad to Nghe An .

Police have arrested 6 suspects and seized more than 1.9 tons of fireworks. This is the largest amount of fireworks discovered and seized by Nghe An Police since the beginning of 2023.

Accordingly, Nghi Loc District Police discovered a number of subjects in Nghi Loc District who were suspected of colluding with subjects inside and outside Nghe An to trade in prohibited goods (fireworks).

The subjects bought fireworks from abroad to Vietnam through unofficial channels and then gathered them in provinces along the border such as Quang Binh , Quang Tri... then disguised the fireworks in different cargo containers on vehicles to transport the fireworks to sell to subjects in Nghe An and Nghi Loc area.

To avoid being detected by authorities, after buying fireworks and bringing them to Nghe An, the subjects did not hide them at home but left them in many places such as abandoned houses, farms, or sealed them up and sent them to relatives' houses...

After the investigation, on December 24 and 26, Nghi Loc District Police presided over and coordinated with related units to successfully dismantle 2 cases of trading, transporting, and storing firecrackers with more than 1.9 tons of firecrackers, arresting 6 subjects.

Accordingly, in the early morning of December 26, in Nghi Dien commune (Nghi Loc), Nghi Loc district police coordinated with the Crime Prevention Department under the Coast Guard Region 1 Command and the Provincial Police Department to successfully crack a case, arresting 4 subjects for illegal trading and storage of firecrackers. The seized exhibits included more than 1.23 tons of fireworks, 1 car, 4 mobile phones and other documents and evidence related to the case.

The ringleaders of this ring are Ho Viet Son (born in 1995) and Nguyen Canh San (born in 1982, both residing in Nghi Dien commune, Nghi Loc). Expanding the investigation, the authorities also arrested two more suspects, Nguyen Canh Truong (born in 1986) and Ho Viet Hung (born in 1987, both residing in Nghi Dien commune, Nghi Loc district).

Previously, on December 24, Nghi Loc District Police presided over and coordinated with the Provincial Police Department and Hung Dong Commune Police, Vinh City to successfully crack a case and arrest Nguyen The Manh (born in 1986, residing in Nghi Thinh Commune, Nghi Loc) and Dau Thanh Tuan (born in 1987, residing in Hung Dong Commune, Vinh City) for illegally buying, selling and storing firecrackers. The seized exhibits included 672 kg of various types of fireworks, 2 cars, 4 mobile phones and other documents and evidence related to the case.

Currently, Nghi Loc District Police have detained the subjects for strict handling according to the law and continue to investigate and expand the case.
