(CLO) On the afternoon of March 29th, in Hanoi, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (NVNONN), Ministry of Foreign Affairs , held the Launch Ceremony for the Day of Honoring the Vietnamese Language and the Search for Vietnamese Ambassadors Abroad in 2025.
In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang stated: "The importance of preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language affirms that Vietnamese is not only a means of communication but also the soul of the nation, embodying the cultural identity of Vietnam through thousands of years of history. This is the thread that connects the Vietnamese diaspora with their national roots."

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also reviewed the achievements after two years of implementing the Project on Honoring the Vietnamese Language in the Vietnamese Community Abroad. Over the past period, activities in response to the project have taken place enthusiastically in many diverse forms, with the active participation of domestic agencies, localities, and a large number of overseas Vietnamese.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the Vietnamese community abroad, organizations, associations, and individuals to join hands in preserving and promoting the Vietnamese language. Using Vietnamese not only within families but also in educational, work, and international settings will contribute to preserving the national cultural identity.
Ms. Tran Hong Van, the Vietnamese Language Ambassador of 2023, shared her vision of helping overseas Vietnamese children speak Vietnamese, appreciate Vietnamese culture, and connect with their roots, building a solid foundation for them to shine anywhere in the world. Ms. Tran Hong Van also emphasized that maintaining the language and culture for young Vietnamese people abroad requires the efforts of all stakeholders.
Also at the event, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Nguyen Manh Dong officially announced the "Searching for Vietnamese Ambassadors Abroad 2025" competition. This is a meaningful platform to find and honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to preserving and promoting the Vietnamese language globally.
Leaders pressed the button to officially launch the program "Magical Vietnamese Language," a collaborative production between VTV4 and the Vietnam Education Publishing House.
Within the framework, the Organizing Committee also announced several activities in response to the Day of Honoring the Vietnamese Language. Specifically, the Foreign Affairs Television Department of Vietnam Television (VTV4) will introduce the programs "Vietnamese is not difficult" and "Having fun with Vietnamese". These programs help Vietnamese people living abroad, especially the younger generation, learn and use Vietnamese more easily and vividly.
The Center for Vietnamese Studies and the Bamboo Tree Vietnamese Language School (Japan) have launched a competition titled "Vietnamese Oratory, Painting, and Learning about Vietnam" and introduced a community-built Vietnamese language library. This is a valuable platform that helps the Vietnamese community in Japan, especially the younger generation, connect more closely with their homeland's culture and language, while also providing opportunities for them to naturally improve their Vietnamese language skills.
