On the morning of May 24, in Yen Thinh town, Yen Mo District People's Committee coordinated with the Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office to organize a program to launch the movement to protect the environment and improve rural landscapes in new rural construction in 2024.

Environmental protection and rural landscape improvement play a very important role in building new rural areas. This not only helps to improve the quality of the living environment for rural people in a sustainable way towards green, clean and beautiful, but also helps each person to be aware of their role in the living environment, thereby being responsible, appreciating and loving the rural living environment more.

Right from the beginning of the year, the District Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Yen Mo district have focused on directing all levels and sectors to do a good job of informing and propagating the role and significance of environmental protection activities and rural landscape improvement to the people in the district. Organizing a tree planting launching ceremony with the response of all levels, sectors, agencies, units and people in the district, in the first quarter alone, the whole district planted 8,500 trees on traffic routes, offices, schools, businesses, etc. Planting an additional 51 km of flower roads, painting over 200 murals and propaganda paintings to create rural landscapes in communes and towns.

On the other hand, the district determined that waste classification at source is very important to reduce the burden on the environment when plastic items and nylon bags take decades to decompose. In 2024, Yen Mo district spent nearly 2 billion VND on environmental protection activities, of which nearly 400 million VND was spent to support waste classification. Currently, the rate of households that classify household waste at source is 58.8%. In parallel, the district has issued plans to direct environmental protection work in livestock production and aquaculture. Implement a peak month of general cleaning and disinfection of the environment and livestock environment in May.

Direct communes and towns to strengthen inspection of livestock farming environments of farms, livestock farms, production and business establishments; place more containers for packaging and bottles of used pesticides in production areas.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates and local people organized cleaning and pruning of trees in the premises of Yen Thinh Town People's Committee headquarters and the roads around the town People's Committee area.
