The People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and the People's Committee of Da Nang city held a meeting to discuss coordinating the management, exploitation, and promotion of the value of the Hai Van Pass historical site.
According to Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, the coordination between the two sides is based on the principle of ensuring uniformity, synchronization, and effectiveness, clearly assigning responsibilities to each agency and unit in leading and coordinating the management, protection, and promotion of the value of Hai Van Pass relics, avoiding formality and overlap.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, basically agreed with the draft Regulations on Coordination of Management, and at the same time assigned the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center to continue gathering opinions from relevant parties to finalize it before submitting it to the leaders of the two localities for approval.
The current management plan for the historical site during the period before ticket sales is considered reasonable, and the Lien Chieu District People's Committee is tasked with ensuring security and order. Once ticket sales begin, the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center and the Lien Chieu District People's Committee will take turns managing the site every three years (the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center will take over the first management role). The unit not directly responsible for management will send a supervisory team to monitor the implementation of the management.
In addition, the two localities also agreed to promptly implement supporting facilities, especially logistics and service areas such as parking lots, public restrooms, and souvenir display spaces.

After a long period of restoration, the Hai Van Pass historical site will open to visitors free of charge from August 1, 2024.
The Hai Van Pass relic, located on the summit of Hai Van Pass, the border between Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang, has been restored and renovated since December 2021 by the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center in coordination with the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports.
Following restoration work, the Hai Van Pass historical site reopened to visitors free of charge on August 1, 2024. From August 1 to September 9, the site welcomed 78,306 visitors.
