Building upon a solid foundation.
The new Quang Tri province owns a coastline of more than 240 km, connecting strategic traffic axes such as National Highway 1, Ho Chi Minh Road, North-South Expressway and in the future, the high-speed railway. In particular, having two large seaports Hon La and My Thuy and two airports Dong Hoi and Quang Tri (under construction) are important premises to create momentum for the province to become a logistics and multimodal trade center of the region.
In recent years, both Quang Binh and Quang Tri (formerly) provinces have focused on developing key economic zones and industrial parks. In Quang Binh (formerly), 8 out of 10 industrial parks have detailed planning with a total area of 1,510 hectares. Of these, 3 industrial parks: Tay Bac Dong Hoi, Bac Dong Hoi, and Hon La Seaport have had their infrastructure fully developed and attracted over 80% of the investment capital.
According to data from the former Quang Binh Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, in the first six months of 2025, the economic zones and industrial parks in the province attracted 8 new investment projects with a total capital of VND 1,032 billion, bringing the total number of projects granted investment approval to 197 with a total investment of VND 121,097 billion. Many large-scale, key projects are being accelerated, such as the Quang Trach Power Center with the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant expected to be operational in 2025, and the Quang Trach II and III LNG Thermal Power Plants, which are also being prepared for investment.
Besides energy, transportation infrastructure is also receiving significant investment, with the Hon La International General Port currently in its first phase, expected to be operational in 2026. Industrial park projects such as Cam Lien and Hon La II are also being accelerated to be ready to attract investors.

Quang Tri Province (old) with its strategic location on the East-West Economic Corridor has accelerated the progress of implementing the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, orienting the development of energy industry, seaports and logistics, along with other industrial parks such as Nam Dong Ha, Quan Ngang, Tay Bac Ho Xa...
Notably, the My Thuy Port project with a total investment of more than 14,200 billion VND, a scale of 10 wharfs, is capable of receiving ships with a tonnage of up to 100,000 tons. Phase 1 is expected to complete 4 wharfs by 2025. My Thuy Port not only serves the province's cargo transport but also plays a strategic role in inter-regional and international connectivity, being a gateway for goods transit from North Central Vietnam to Southern Laos and Northeast Thailand through La Lay International Border Gate.
For the Component 2 Project of Quang Tri Airport Construction, after nearly a year of construction, the aircraft parking area has been completed. The airport is oriented to develop into a regional and international aviation complex, including a cargo transit center, an aviation industrial complex and an airport urban area, striving to be put into operation from July 2026.
Other key projects such as Quang Tri Industrial Park and Hai Lang LNG Power Center are also being accelerated. Quang Tri Industrial Park with a total area of over 481.2 hectares and an investment capital of over VND 2,074 billion, although the current occupancy rate is 5%, with its strategic location, competitive labor costs and synchronous infrastructure promises to strongly attract investors. In particular, projects in Quang Tri Industrial Park also enjoy a preferential tax rate of 17% for 10 years, 100% exemption of corporate income tax for the first 2 years and a 50% reduction for the next 4 years, creating great attraction for businesses.
Turn advantages into breakthrough driving forces
With a coastline of more than 240 km, two seaports Hon La and My Thuy, and the airport systems of Dong Hoi and Quang Tri being completed, the new Quang Tri province possesses outstanding advantages to become an international logistics and trade center. My Thuy seaport will be a strategic gateway for goods transit from North Central Vietnam to Laos and Northeast Thailand. Hon La international general port and Quang Tri airport will create a synchronous multimodal transport network, turning the new province into a bustling transit hub for goods and passengers.

Besides traditional energy projects, the province also prioritizes the shift towards clean energy and high technology. The Quang Trach II and III LNG Thermal Power Plants and the Hai Lang LNG Power Center affirm the long-term vision for a green and sustainable energy industry. Industrial parks such as the Quang Tri Industrial Park (QTIP), with attractive tax incentives, are strongly attracting modern industrial production projects with high added value, contributing to the sustainable transformation of the economic structure.
The merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces into the new Quang Tri province will create opportunities to develop a diverse and attractive chain of tourism products, connecting the famous destinations of both former localities.
Enhancing competitiveness and attracting investment.
To realize these potentials, Quang Tri province needs to continue investing in its transportation system, ensuring seamless connectivity within the province to the region and internationally. It should also accelerate the implementation of projects such as the Cam Lien Industrial Park, Hon La II Industrial Park, and the Trieu Phu multi-sector industrial park... to be ready to welcome a new wave of investment.
Simultaneously, we will accelerate administrative reforms and improve the investment environment through the strong application of information technology in administrative procedures, creating the most open, transparent, and favorable investment and business environment for enterprises, especially in attracting FDI capital.
Developing high-quality human resources by building vocational training programs linked to the actual needs of key economic sectors such as logistics, energy, high technology and tourism to provide a workforce with expertise and skills to meet the development requirements of the province in the new era.
With strategic vision, solid foundation inheritance and breakthrough development orientation, the new Quang Tri province is ready to expand development space, create new values, and make an important contribution to the common prosperity of the North Central region and the whole country.
