Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated today, November 30, that Russia does not rule out the possibility of resuming nuclear tests.
When asked in an interview with TASS news agency today, November 30, whether Russia was considering a nuclear test as a response to escalating US actions, Ryabkov replied that "this issue is being discussed," according to RT.
"I just want to say that the situation is quite complex. This issue is constantly being considered in all its elements and aspects," Ryabkov added.

Despite being a nuclear power, modern Russia has never conducted a nuclear test in line with its voluntary nuclear test halt commitment, since the last test was conducted in 1990 before the collapse of the Soviet Union, according to RT.
Last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow should be prepared to resume nuclear testing if the United States did so. "We know for sure that some people in Washington are considering conducting real-world tests of their nuclear weapons while the United States is developing new nuclear weapons," Putin said at the time.
"Of course, we won't be the first to do this, but if the US conducts such a test, then we will do the same," Putin emphasized. The US, Russia's main nuclear rival, conducted its last nuclear test in 1992.
According to RT, Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov made the above statement after Washington allowed Ukraine to carry out attacks deep into Russian territory using long-range weapons supplied by the US, despite Moscow's warnings that this would lead to an escalation of the conflict.
There is currently no information on the US reaction to Ryabkov's statement.
