Quang Ngai province allocates 49 billion VND to implement the project to prevent and mitigate riverbank erosion.
Residents in many localities in Quang Ngai province have reported riverbank erosion and requested that the province implement solutions to address the problem, especially as the rainy and stormy season approaches.
The Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee announced that it has allocated 49 billion VND to implement the project to mitigate and prevent riverbank erosion at locations where erosion is directly threatening residential areas along the Tra Bong River in Binh Minh and Binh Chuong communes.
For other locations (not directly affecting residential areas), the Provincial People's Committee requests the Binh Son District People's Committee to continue monitoring and handling the situation in accordance with the regulations in Article 6 of the Regulations on handling riverbank and coastal erosion issued by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 01/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2011.
Recently, residents of Mo Duc and Tu Ngai districts have also reported landslides along the Ve River and the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River. Similarly, residents of Binh Duong commune, Binh Son district, have requested that the province allocate funds to construct the remaining section of the embankment to prevent landslides, from Ba Dau Bridge to Kieng Wharf in My Hue 3 village (approximately 100 meters), as houses are located close to the riverbank in this section, posing a significant danger during the rainy season.
In response to this feedback, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee stated that the projects to build an embankment to prevent erosion along the Tra Binh River, passing through Binh Duong commune; the project to build an embankment to prevent erosion on the southern bank of the Ve River through Mo Duc district; and the project to build an embankment to prevent erosion on the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River, passing through Tu Nghia district, are included in the approved provincial planning.
Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee requests the districts of Binh Son, Mo Duc, and Tu Nghia to conduct inspections and assessments of the current situation, and consider investment plans for the project using public investment funds or other legitimate funds under local management.
"In cases where funding is insufficient, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development should coordinate with relevant departments, agencies, and functional units to research and propose solutions to the competent authorities," the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee requested.
To promptly mitigate landslides, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee requests the People's Committees of Binh Son, Mo Duc, and Tu Nghia districts to monitor and handle the situation in accordance with Article 6 of the Regulations on Handling Riverbank and Coastal Erosion, issued by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 01/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2011. This includes measures such as notification, posting warning signs, cordoning off areas to prevent people and vehicles from entering landslide zones, monitoring landslide developments, and directing initial response efforts to limit further erosion.
