"Exhuma: The Exorcist" created a sensation with a revenue of 160 billion VND, becoming the highest-grossing horror film at the Vietnamese box office.

According to Box Office Vietnam, an independent box office monitoring unit, on the evening of March 24th, the film reached 160 billion VND after 10 days of release in Vietnam. The film surpassed "The Devil Dog ," a Vietnamese film released in December 2023, to become the highest-grossing horror film in the domestic market. With the current ticket sales momentum, "Exhuma" is predicted to be the highest-grossing Korean film of all time in Vietnam – breaking the record of "Suddenly Winning the Lottery" (released in 2022, grossing 181 billion VND).

In South Korea, on March 24th, the film surpassed 10 million viewers, becoming the only horror film to achieve this milestone. Variety noted that the blockbuster helped revive the South Korean box office amidst a gloomy period. With a total global revenue of over $71 million, Exhuma is the highest-grossing South Korean film of the year. The film will soon be released in Canada, Spain, Japan, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Russia.

The film created a huge impact, becoming a top trending keyword on social media thanks to its exploration of the supernatural genre and the harmonious performances of its star-studded cast. The story begins when two exorcists, Rim (Kim Go Eun) and Bong Gil (Lee Do Hyun), team up with feng shui master Kim Sang Deok (Choi Min Sik) and funeral expert Yong Geun (Yoo Hae Jin) to excavate an ancient tomb. Beyond the horror, the film incorporates elements of mystery and intertwines historical events, including the Japanese occupation of the Korean Peninsula in the early 20th century.

Despite its compelling plot, the film suffers from numerous script flaws and a rushed ending. According to the Korea Herald , the work exposes many issues but fails to explore them thoroughly. The story is divided into two parts with two antagonists, but lacks connection, making the overall script feel like two disjointed episodes.
