Scan QR code on street name board, look up Buon Ma Thuot history

People and tourists coming to Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) on the occasion of National Day September 2 will have an interesting experience when many street name boards have been installed to scan QR codes to look up history and directions.

Since the end of August 2025, the Management Board of Buon Ma Thuot Construction Investment Projects (under the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects of Dak Lak province) has installed hundreds of street nameplates with integrated QR code scanning.

Users can scan the code from their phones to learn about the names, careers of heroes, historical events associated with the road, and use the directions function, open the map or share the address.

On Le Duan Street, Ms. Tran Luong My Nhan (residing in Buon Ma Thuot ward) scanned the QR code and immediately read a summary of information about the late General Secretary .

Vu Thanh Van, a student at Tay Nguyen University (Dak Lak), was also eager to experience Nguyen Tat Thanh Street. In the context of digital technology application, being able to look up information using a smartphone anywhere is very necessary.

"Now, just by walking on the street, we can review the history and important events of the country. This is especially meaningful for students coming to the center of Buon Ma Thuot ward for the first time," Van said.

The project was approved by the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City (old) in April 2025 with a total investment of more than 3.2 billion VND from the budget, to be implemented in the 2025 - 2027 period.

There are 36 sets of street name signs decorated with the theme "Buon Ma Thuot - the destination of world coffee" installed on main axes such as Le Duan, Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Tat Thanh; at the same time, 204 sets of other popular street name signs are added.

The nameplates are modernly designed, with the city logo and integrated QR codes to look up information about people and events associated with the 31 newly named streets.

The list ranges from leaders, celebrities, and national heroes such as Nguyen Tat Thanh, Le Duan, Tran Hung Dao, Chu Van An, Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Du... to intellectuals and Ede leaders such as Ama Jhao, Ama Khe, Y Bih Aleô, Y Ngong Nie Kdam.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu - Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot Ward People's Committee - said that the project contributes to urban beautification, associated with Resolution 72 on piloting a number of specific mechanisms for Buon Ma Thuot, while aiming to build a smart city and promote digital transformation.
