The work "Music and Life" (Institute of Music) includes 15 theoretical and analytical articles about typical songs and instrumental works written by famous music theorists, musicians, and conductors, and a selection of outstanding articles written by many journalists, writers, musicians... about the person and life of musician Hoang Van.
Meanwhile, the work "Forever and Ever After" (Kim Dong Publishing House) is considered a memoir - biography of musician Hoang Van through his lifetime works written by his daughter Le Y Linh - a doctor of music. The covers of the two books are based on a self-portrait of musician Hoang Van himself and designed by his nephew, artist Le Thiet Cuong.

People's Artist Ta Minh Tam said that the public knows musician Hoang Van through a series of songs that have left a deep mark on Vietnamese music since "Ho keo phao" (1954). "The timeless songs were composed in three periods: the war for independence and national reunification (1954-1973), peace (1974-1990) and the last years of his life (1990-2010). These are works that live forever" - People's Artist Ta Minh Tam assessed.
In more than half a century of composing, musician Hoang Van has left behind more than 700 works in almost all genres and forms of music. Meritorious Artist and singer Hong Van believes that his compositions are diverse in subject matter, with poetic lyrics, creating beautiful images, full of optimism. The musician's songs are a journey to find beauty, love for the homeland and the Fatherland.

According to music experts, these are the first two publications dedicated to the life and creative career of musician Hoang Van. This work helps music researchers better understand the musician who devoted his life to his career and contributed to opening up many creative trends for the country's music industry.
Musician Hoang Van (1930-2018), whose real name is Le Van Ngo, belongs to the generation of Vietnamese musicians who accompanied the resistance wars for independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people in the 20th century. In his monumental composing career, he devoted an important position to academic music. Notably, the symphonic poem "Thanh Dong To Quoc" - written by him in 1960 - is one of the first symphonic poems in Vietnam.
