To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), Kim Dong Publishing House is launching a special publication: “One Home – Atlas of 54 Ethnic Groups of Vietnam”.

“Sharing One Home – Atlas of 54 Ethnic Groups of Vietnam” is a book by author Vo Thi Mai Chi and illustrator Ho Quoc Cuong. With carefully selected and concise information, presented through familiar and colorful images, the book takes readers on a journey to experience the unique and distinct characteristics of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups, reflected in their villages, homes, food, and festivals. Readers can admire traditional costumes with their distinctive patterns and gain a deeper understanding of the customs and traditions of each ethnic group that have been preserved and passed down through generations.
Each page of the book amazes and inspires readers with its rich and diverse cultural and spiritual life of the Vietnamese family. It showcases the unique markets of various ethnic groups; the diversity of cuisine and famous dishes; the distinctive beauty of festivals and folk games; and many characteristic cultural features expressed in language, clothing, customs, and art forms.

In this era of vibrant integration, what will anchor and connect young people to their roots? The answer lies in "national identity," which is both the heritage of their ancestors and the source of energy that empowers present and future generations to be confident in themselves. Also in this new era, for the country to reach new heights and continuously grow stronger, the unity and solidarity among ethnic groups is the greatest source of strength.
With that spirit in mind, the book "Sharing One Home - Atlas of 54 Vietnamese Ethnic Groups" aims to contribute to "connecting the great circle," sparking interest in readers to learn more about the diverse cultures and rich spiritual lives of the 54 ethnic groups; and at the same time, becoming a valuable spiritual guide, helping young Vietnamese people to be proud of their national identity, nurture love for their homeland, and step out into the world with pride as children of Vietnam.
Prior to "Sharing One Home - Atlas of 54 Ethnic Groups of Vietnam," author Vo Thi Mai Chi and illustrator Ho Quoc Cuong had already published other popular books such as "The Land of Brocade - Atlas of Vietnam" (2022) and "Following the Footsteps of Time: Representative Works of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City" (2025), both published by Kim Dong Publishing House.

Author Vo Thi Mai Chi shared: “Since childhood, I have learned and remembered that Vietnam has 54 ethnic groups. Now, having the opportunity to delve into the history, culture, life, customs, and traditions of each ethnic group, I am amazed and impressed by the diverse cultural features and rich spiritual life of the brotherly ethnic groups living together in this S-shaped country. And this is the motivation for me to begin compiling this book.”
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Kim Dong Publishing House is organizing a book launch and discussion event on the theme: "Young People and Vietnamese Identity" at 9:00 AM on August 23rd, at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, with the participation of author Mai Chi, illustrator Ho Quoc Cuong, and Master Phan Dinh Dung, lecturer specializing in the study of ethnic groups in the Southeast region.
