SEA Games 33: stage for Dinh Bac?

It brought him from an unknown young player to fame, bringing with it the expectations of fans for the new generation of players on the Vietnamese national team in the revolution of coach Philippe Troussier.

The slip

Because he became famous too quickly, Dinh Bac went through a period of time where he could not keep his feet on the ground. After the 2023 Asian Cup campaign, Bac returned to Quang Nam Club but violated internal discipline and was sent down to the youth team by Coach Van Sy Son. Also during this time, Dinh Bac received attention from many clubs, including Hanoi Club.

Dinh Bac was given favorable conditions by Quang Nam Club and joined the capital team's headquarters. But when it came to signing the contract, he refused at the last minute because he did not agree with some terms. At the same time, he used the excuse of being interested by a foreign team to put pressure on the Hanoi team.

The loan deal fell through, forcing Dinh Bac to immediately return to Quang Nam. He was criticized by head coach Van Sy Son for having illusions of strength. The end of the 2023-2024 season became a time to forget for Dinh Bac when he suffered a knee injury and could not play.

Revival efforts

Being recruited by the Hanoi Police Club before the 2024-2025 season is a turning point for Dinh Bac's career. In the environment of the police team, Dinh Bac has been trained to know who he is.

Under the guidance of coach Alexandre Polking, Dinh Bac trained hard and improved over time. He gradually competed for a position in the attack and has now become an important player when the Hanoi Police Club competes in many arenas.

Former head coach of the Vietnam national team, Mr. Henrique Calisto, praised Dinh Bac when he watched the Super Cup match between Cong An Ha Noi and Nam Dinh at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season. He said: "I really like Dinh Bac. He reminds me of Le Cong Vinh. With Dinh Bac, the Vietnam national team will have a bright future."

At the age of 21, Dinh Bac has also affirmed his position in the Vietnam U22 team under coach Kim Sang Sik. He is a key factor in the journey to win the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and win a ticket to the 2026 Asian U23 Championship.

Having been called up to the national team early and possessing a lot of international competition experience, Dinh Bac carries the responsibility of leading the U22 Vietnam attack to shine at the 33rd SEA Games. This tournament in Thailand will most likely be the stage for Dinh Bac to show his talent.
