A watchdog investigation into the charity Fashion for Relief has found much of the money raised at star-studded events over the past decade was misused.

Tens of thousands of dollars from the charity fund were allegedly spent on lavish hotel vacations, spa services, personal security, cigarettes, etc. The Washington Post revealed that the Fashion for Relief organization spent thousands of dollars on security activities and a stay at a 5-star hotel for the black supermodel in 2018.

In addition, according to the investigation, co-trustee Bianka Hellmich also received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the charity through unauthorized payments.

According to the report, the world -famous supermodel's charity organization is not properly and adequately managed financially. From April 2016 to July 2022, only 8.5% of the organization's total expenditure was charitable donations.

The Daily Mail revealed that within 15 months, despite raising $1.6 million at a gala in Cannes (France), Naomi Campbell's organization only donated $5,000.

The "Black Panther" of the fashion world is not the only one criticized for his charity work. Previously, the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue magazine was also criticized at the Style Awards ceremony.

"The trustee who calls for and holds charitable funds must be the one who makes the right decisions in using the funds, complies with regulations and fulfills responsibilities.

We found that the trustees of this charity were not performing their duties properly and fully. We therefore decided to remove them," said the chief executive of the Charity Commission.

On September 26, the 54-year-old supermodel officially spoke out about the incident. In tears, the "black panther" admitted that she was very worried, but she added: "I no longer have control over my own charity fund."

The "Black Panther" said she did not know about her disbarment until she read the news. When asked about the personal expenses reported by the media, she said: "We are still investigating on our side even though I no longer have control over my own charity.

I was forced to hand control over to a lawyer to find out what was going on and why. Every penny I earned and raised went to charity."

The charity Fashion for Relief was founded in 2005 to help victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans (USA). The purpose of the organization is to call for charity, raise funds, and introduce fashion activities around the world.

The organization's official website says it has helped many people who were victims of natural disasters and raised $15 million for good causes.

The black supermodel once wrote on the organization's website: "Nelson Mandela inspired me to found Fashion For Relief to improve the lives of those in need by uniting the fashion industry as a force for good.

We provide relief to victims of disasters such as the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Katrina, the Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami."

The investigation into the use of the Fashion For Relief charity began in 2021 after the organization failed to account for its financial expenditures. The financial investigation resulted in the recovery of nearly $400,000, which was then donated to Save the Children and the Mayor of London’s Fund.

Fashion for Relief charity announces it will disband from March 2024.
