Taking advantage of International Women's Day on March 8th, a group of students from the Geography and Environment Club of Da Nang University of Education set up a makeshift flower shop, selling bouquets of love and using the revenue to raise funds for charity for underprivileged children in mountainous areas.

As International Women's Day on March 8th approaches, street corners become ablaze with flowers. On Ton Duc Thang Street (Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City), a small flower stall run by students from the Geography and Environment Club attracts the attention of many passersby with its sign that reads "selling flowers to raise funds".
The simple flower shop was set up in front of the school gate with an umbrella, a tarp to provide shade, and a table displaying the flowers so that customers could easily see them.
Selling flowers to raise funds for charity is a traditional annual activity of the club, aimed at helping people in difficult circumstances, especially children in mountainous areas.
Nguyen Thi Thu Hien (head of the Geography - Environment Club) said: "Taking advantage of the occasions of March 8th and October 20th, the club often organizes flower sales to raise funds. Every year, the students participate enthusiastically. As the day approaches, they are busy preparing to sell as many flowers as possible."
Each flower sale usually brings in a few million dong. The club will save up until the amount reaches about 10-15 million dong before organizing a donation drive for children in mountainous areas. Recently, the group organized a gift-giving event for children in Tra Kot, Bac Tra My district, Quang Nam province."
To maximize profits, the flower shop primarily sells handmade flowers made by the club members themselves. The students research and learn flower-making techniques online to create the most beautiful flowers for their customers. Additionally, the students go to the wholesale market early in the morning to get the cheapest and freshest flowers, giving customers more choices when they visit the shop.

The flower prices here are very reasonable, with many options ranging from 15,000 VND to 200,000 VND, suitable for all customer needs. To increase customer numbers, the students also actively promote the flowers on social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok, receiving much support from people.
For many students in the club, sitting for hours outside the makeshift flower shop or sleeping overnight guarding the flowers is all too familiar. To fit their class schedules, the students take turns making and selling flowers.
Having participated in fundraising flower sales many times, Nguyen Thanh Dat (21 years old, a member of the Geography - Environment Club) eagerly helps whenever the opportunity arises. For Dat, this is a meaningful activity, not only helping underprivileged children but also enriching his own experience.
"These days we're busier, balancing our studies with arranging to sell and ship flowers with the club, but I'm very happy. Just thinking that our work will contribute to helping children in the highlands motivates the group. This activity also helps us gain experience, accumulate life skills, and is an opportunity for the members of the club to bond more closely," Thanh Dat shared.
Impressed by the sign that read "flower sale for fundraising," Bui Khac Phuong (residing in Lien Chieu district) immediately visited the flower shop to donate, hoping the group would have more funds to help those in need.
"Passing by, I saw this meaningful activity so I stopped to buy some flowers. I stopped by the flower shop both to buy gifts for my loved ones and to contribute to the fund, spreading love to the children. I hope this meaningful activity will continue to be promoted and spread," said Bui Khac Phuong.
Besides selling flowers, the young members of the Geography and Environment Club also regularly organize other activities such as music nights at the foot of the Dragon Bridge, selling snacks, etc., to raise funds and share with those less fortunate.
