Lam Dong Department of Education and Training has no policy to temporarily suspend boarding school for the 2025-2026 school year.

That is the affirmation of the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province, Le Thi Bich Lien, in response to the information that some primary schools in Phan Thiet ward informed parents that they would not organize boarding schools or temporarily stop organizing boarding schools in the 2025-2026 school year.

In recent days, parents with children studying at some primary schools in Phan Thiet ward, Lam Dong province were surprised and worried when they received a notice from the homeroom teacher that the school would not organize boarding for students but only had 2 sessions per day.

The reason is that there is no direction on organizing boarding, collecting, spending, and contracting boarding staff... Therefore, the school informs parents that students will start studying from 7:00 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. (parents pick up students); in the afternoon, students will start studying from 2:00 p.m. to 4:25 p.m.

Faced with this information, many parents expressed surprise and concern because they could not arrange a time to pick up and drop off their children when the school did not organize boarding.

This announcement surprised parents as they prepared for their children to enter the new school year. The announcement showed the school's lack of initiative in not organizing boarding, causing inconvenience to parents, and not ensuring students' time and rest, said Mr. NVP, whose child is in grade 1 at Bac Phan Thiet Primary School.

Meanwhile, HNT, a parent whose child attends Phu Trinh 1 Primary School, is worried: “I am very worried after receiving the school’s notice that it will temporarily suspend boarding and only organize 2 sessions per day. Because my husband and I are busy with work, we cannot take our children home and school 2 sessions a day. I hope that the education sector and local authorities will soon have guidance and plans for schools to continue organizing boarding when the new school year begins.”

Regarding the information that some primary schools in Phan Thiet ward announced the temporary suspension of boarding schools, causing concern for parents, Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province, affirmed: The Department has no documents or requests sent to schools about the temporary suspension or not organizing boarding schools in the new school year 2025 - 2026.

Accordingly, on August 26, 2025, the Department of Education and Training issued Document No. 570 on guidelines for organizing 2 sessions/day for primary education in the 2025-2026 school year. In particular, for the organization of boarding schools, if the material facilities are sufficient and suitable to actual conditions, based on the proposals, consensus, and voluntariness of students and parents, the school will develop a plan to report to the People's Committee of the commune, ward, or special zone for consideration and approval of the policy before implementation.

Boarding school organization must absolutely ensure food safety and hygiene. The principal is responsible for managing the correct and adequate implementation of food rations; the quality and origin of food, spices, etc.

Prepare meals for boarding students

In order for units to properly implement the content of the "Bidding package for providing meals and school meals or purchasing food, raw materials, and input fuel to provide meals and school meals for boarding and semi-boarding students at public educational institutions" according to the provisions of law, the Department of Education and Training has issued instructions on selecting contractors in special cases according to Decree 214/2025/ND-CP dated August 4, 2025 of the Government to units under the Department.

At the same time, the Department is urgently issuing documents to guide educational institutions in implementing the collection of fees at the beginning of the school year according to regulations.

Along with that, on August 28, 2025, Lam Dong Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 21 on the application and abolition of legal documents issued by the People's Councils of Binh Thuan, Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces before the merger. In particular, Resolution No. 385/2024/NQ-HDND dated December 10, 2024 of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council (old) stipulating the list of revenues and collection levels, revenue and expenditure management mechanisms for services supporting educational and training activities at public educational institutions in Lam Dong province will continue to be applied.

Currently, the Department of Education and Training is asking schools and localities to report on the reasons for not organizing boarding schools or temporarily suspending boarding schools. At the same time, it is synthesizing the difficulties of schools in organizing boarding schools in the new school year to find timely solutions.
