(TN&MT) - On March 4th, Mr. Doan Van Danh - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ben Tre province - chaired a conference to announce the decisions on the establishment of departments and units under the Department of Agriculture and Environment and to present decisions on personnel matters.

On February 19, 2025, the Ben Tre Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 05/NQ-HĐND on the establishment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment by merging the Department of Natural Resources and Environment with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and it commenced operations on March 1, 2025. Subsequently, the Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision appointing the leadership of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, including: Director Mr. Doan Van Danh; and Deputy Directors Mr. Bui Minh Tuan, Mr. Nguyen Van Buoi, Mr. Huynh Quang Duc, Mr. Bui Van Tham, Mr. Vo Tien Si, Mr. Vo Van Ngoan, and Mr. Duong Vinh Thinh.
After the merger, the organizational structure of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ben Tre province includes 01 Director and 7 Deputy Directors; along with 22 departments, general and specialized advisory units. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will perform the advisory function, assisting the People's Committee of Ben Tre province in performing the state management function in the following fields: Agriculture; forestry; salt industry; fisheries; irrigation; natural disaster prevention and control; poverty reduction; rural development; land; water resources; mineral and geological resources; environment; hydrometeorology; climate change; surveying and mapping; comprehensive and unified management of seas and islands according to the provisions of law.

At this conference, the Ben Tre Department of Agriculture and Environment announced decisions on personnel matters for the heads and deputy heads of departments and units under the Department, including: the Department Office; the Department Inspectorate; the Planning and Finance Department; the Land Management, Surveying and Remote Sensing Department; the Environmental Management and Climate Change Department; the Resource and Marine Management Department; the Crop Production and Plant Protection Sub-Department; the Livestock and Veterinary Sub-Department; the Forestry Sub-Department; the Fisheries Sub-Department; the Irrigation and Construction Sub-Department; the Rural Development and Quality Management Sub-Department; the Provincial National Target Program Coordination Office; the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center; the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center; the Provincial Seed and Ornamental Plant Center; the Protective and Special-Use Forest Management Board; the Fishing Port Management Board; the Information Technology Center; the Resource and Environment Monitoring Center; the Land Registration Office; and the Ben Tre Provincial Land Fund Development Center.

Speaking at the conference, Director of the Ben Tre Department of Agriculture and Environment, Doan Van Danh, said that over the past period, with the decisive direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, and the determination and efforts of the departments and units under the two Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and Natural Resources and Environment in advising the leadership on the plan to establish the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the work of organizing the internal structure of the new Department after the merger, certain results have been achieved.
At the same time, implementing the policy of streamlining the staff in the organization arrangement, 10 comrades voluntarily applied for early retirement and quit their jobs to facilitate the arrangement and restructuring of the staff to operate effectively and efficiently, while creating conditions for the younger generation of staff to continue to strive and contribute to the Industry.
According to Mr. Doan Van Danh, the Ben Tre Department of Agriculture and Environment is one of the large sectors, managing multiple fields and sectors, with a fairly large workforce (over 1,000 civil servants and employees), requiring the leadership and management team of the entire Department to have high political determination for the assigned political tasks. “With that spirit, I propose that you all urgently focus on leading, directing, and organizing the immediate implementation of the assigned political tasks, ensuring continuity and smooth operation in leadership and direction, closely adhering to the resolutions, directives, programs, and plans of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, and proactively advising the Department's leadership on building programs and plans to implement assigned tasks, including those committed to the Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee,” Mr. Doan Van Danh emphasized.

For newly appointed officials, Mr. Doan Van Danh requested that they quickly grasp their new roles, utilize their intelligence, experience, and high sense of responsibility with high determination, great effort, and decisive action; continue to develop their abilities and strengths, set a good example, and foster unity to lead their organizations and units effectively.
Regarding the 10 officials retiring under Decree 178/2024/ND-CP, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Ben Tre Department of Agriculture and Environment, Mr. Doan Van Danh congratulated, acknowledged, and commended their sense of responsibility, self-discipline, and voluntariness; and also highly appreciated their efforts and contributions throughout their careers. He also expressed confidence that the road ahead will open up many new opportunities; with their experience, capabilities, and enthusiasm, these officials will continue to uphold the fine qualities of officials and Party members, and continue to make positive contributions to society and the locality.
