(NLDO) - A group of workers constructing the Dak Mi 1 Hydropower Plant unfortunately met with an accident, resulting in at least 3 deaths and 2 missing.
Authorities in Dak Glei district, Kon Tum province, and other relevant agencies are making efforts to search for two workers who fell into a water pit while constructing the Dak Mi 1 hydroelectric plant in Dak Choong commune, Dak Glei district.
According to initial information, at approximately 3:00 AM on December 31st, during the concrete pouring process for the spillway of the Dak Mi 1 Hydropower Plant, a group of workers unfortunately met with an accident. Four workers fell into a pit 4-5 meters deep, while one worker remained below.
Authorities are currently at the scene investigating the incident.
While pouring concrete, a group of workers fell into a water-filled pit from a height of 4-5 meters.
Immediately after the incident, construction workers dived down to search for the missing people but were unsuccessful. By noon on December 31st, authorities had found the bodies of three workers.
Rescue teams are clearing paths and bringing in pumps to drain water from the lake in an attempt to find the two remaining victims.
The victims have been identified as: Ha Van Son (30 years old); Kha Van Khay (26 years old), Ngan Van Long (32 years old) and Luong Van Hung (20 years old, all from Nghe An province), workers of Dung Phuc Loc Company (Cat Vang commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province).
The other victim was A Tuat (24 years old, residing in Dak Choong commune, Dak Glei district), a worker at Nguyen Duoc Company.
The Dak Mi 1 hydroelectric power plant has a capacity of 84 MW and is located in Dak Choong commune, Dak Glei district. The project has a total investment of over 3,500 billion VND, was started in 2009, and is currently not yet completed.
