During the meeting, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mr. Takebe Tsutomu and highly appreciated his positive contributions to promoting friendly relations between Vietnam and Japan in general, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Japanese partners in particular. He especially highlighted the role of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance through its many effective activities in Ho Chi Minh City over the past period.
To mark a turning point in the expanding urban development model, with the merger of Ho Chi Minh City's administrative boundaries with neighboring localities such as Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc proposed that Japan consider the idea of organizing the Vietnam-Japan Festival in 2026 in the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau area.
To increase its appeal, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City suggested that the Japanese organizing units develop programs related to the theme of the sea and the distinctive cultural features of the southern coastal region. In subsequent years, the festival could be alternately held in the former Binh Duong area with more diverse content and formats.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Van Duoc, received Takebe Tsutomu, special advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City always values and wishes to deepen the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan through expanding cooperation in the fields of culture, education, and training. According to him, this is an important foundation for strengthening the connection between the two countries in a sustainable and substantive way.
In response, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu expressed his gratitude for the attention and support from the Ho Chi Minh City government to the activities of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, especially in organizing the Vietnam-Japan Festival. He hoped to continue receiving the city's cooperation and support in organizing the 11th festival in 2026.
Mr. Takebe also stated that he will coordinate with Japanese organizing units to discuss and assess the feasibility of holding the festival in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong (formerly) areas, in line with Ho Chi Minh City's new regional development strategy.
