On the basis of the signed agreement, the two sides have established a bilateral mechanism to coordinate border and border gate management from the central to local levels.
Notably, the maintenance of bilateral patrol regime, strengthening coordination and information exchange between levels and sectors to properly resolve arising issues; promptly detecting damaged border markers or areas at high risk of landslides and reporting and recommending appropriate handling measures to competent authorities. Thereby contributing to stabilizing the border line and border markers, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the border area between Vietnam and Laos, creating conditions for the development of the border area in particular and the whole country in general./.
